Lysander Spooner decried the Arlington National Cemetary as 'socialistic' and thought individual soldiers should be required to pay for their own plots and upkeep costs if they wanted to be buried there, rather than burdening everyone else. Do you agree with Lysander Spooner?

As long as we're all sharing beefs..you know what's really frustrating? The mainstream press, who ordinarily runs to give both Jesse Jackson and Janet Reno free publicity, isn't telling us about JJ and Reno's current anti-Bush administration actions. Free Republic is an open forum. It is not free. God bless Jim Robinson.
RENO and JJ: RATS .

I don't know who Mr Spooner is, but if you're asking if I always agree with Demidog the answer is a resounding NO. But unlike some people around here, I defend the right of people to have dissenting opinions. Am I upset about Demidog's banishment? You damn right.

In seeking warriors for the front line of Internet censorship, Ridge needs look no farther than FreeRepublic.com. The atmosphere there is now poisonous.

Odd that this opinion would be posted on Free Republic, eh? Once again, it may behoove us ALL to realize that THIS IS NOT THE PUBLIC MARKETPLACE!!!! It is a private website, open by invitation only, and ruled however the webmaster (and the guy who pays the bills) sees fit. This ain't the airwaves, or the front page of your cat box liner. It is Jim Robinson's website, and he can "censor" any damned thing he takes a mind to! Is that so hard to understand????

He owes YOU exactly bupkus, Mr. Elkins.

All we are saying, is "Give War A Chance."

Did we give equal time to Hitler? Send a squad of diplomats in to chat with Tojo on Dec. 8, 1941? Invite Mussolini over for high tea?

Anyone can exercise their right to speak a dissenting opinion. There's a whole bunch of domain names still available. One can register "sorelosers-r-us.com" or "why-i-despise-veterans.com" or "everyone-else-is-crazy-and-i-alone-know-the-truth.org" for that purpose. But why anyone would gripe and moan and be upset about someone no longer able to enter the home of a veteran to soil his carpet is beyond me.

This isn't the "middle of a crisis". This is the beginning of forever.

I'm strongly opposed to the "cards".

I'll bash Bush when he actually proposes that. He hasn't to date. I don't believe he will. If he does, I will be very disappointed.

ID cards are coming, their is nothing that will stop them from being introduced. They can be slowed down, maybe controlled, but it is coming. It saddens me to think that we must reduce the scope of citizenship, so before we do that, we have to try other things. It amazes me that there remains in this country, people that care nothing about this country, hate its culture, but freely participate in the free programs and the money making opportunity, it is just wrong. I say send everybody we possibly can back to their countries, unless they are citizens. Let them reapply for admittance under different, more strict guidelines.

Well...

It says "Back to Unfree Republic" because that is the title of this thread at Free Republic that I put the link on... Slate didn't do that, the poster who posted this article on FR did it...

Sandy, I know I've said this before, but you're one of the greats. So eloquent are you. I fervently hope you never leave FR. Thank you so much for just being you.

In sincerity,
Callahan

Perhaps instead of being issued ID cards, we will be implanted with electronic chips. That would eliminate falsification, except by the most resolute and resourceful. Our identities could be read remotely and our whereabouts determined at any time.

The next generation of cell-phones are planed to provide tracking of the user from a GPS.

Get ready for the brave new world.

Re: implants, that is coming too, if you believe what is spouted as prophecies. If the Bible is true and the Mark of the Beast is coming, let it come quickly, things won't be boring after that happens.
