I think all this appeasement started in the Gulf War, when George Bush I got the Sabras to endure scud missile attacks from Hussein without retaliating, just in order to appease our great "allies," the Saudis. You know, the "moderate" folks who just stabbed us in the back, as payment of their debt? It's been a slippery slope downhill, ever since.
