I happen to believe that what Bill Maher said was taken completely out of context and demagogued by people who saw an opportunity to destroy an annoying, vacuum-brained little gnat.

I also believe that what comes around, goes around - the same tactics have been used by the gays to attempt to destroy Dr. Laura Schlesinger.

I guess the lesson here is: If you can't beat them fair and square, beat them at their own game.

If Maher's show had really been "Politically Incorrect" his butt would have been gone a long time ago. This incident was one of the few times he has been truly "Politically Incorrect".

Nothing, when they really are their own views.

There is something wrong when people accept slander as the truth without bothering to find out what the guy really said, in whole and not just in part.

Why conservatives continue to agree to appear on "Politically Incorrect" with this man is a mystery to me.

With apologies to Johnnie Cochran: "Vote...with your Remote"

Agreed. But I'll ask youthe same question. What is the matter with individuals voicing their opinion.

Maher's show has a format where 3 liberal guests and maher bash the one conservative guest. Please sir, may i have another ? As the author asks, why would a conservative go on his show?

Agree, BUT sometimes being nice gets you nowhere
I believe this new war on terrorism will be a leading example of that.

I recall Maher and some of the guests calling Barbara Bush a "bitch" back around the time of the New Hampshire primary. I found it in the PI transcripts-- straight out of Bill's mouth. I emailed ABC back then, and then last week. I really don't give a darn if Bill was misunderstood or not. He, as a talk show host, has no redeeming qualities. I told ABC that I had removed the local ABC affiliates from my TV remote, which ought to scare the heck out of them. I can't even surf past those stations. I've had it with their progamming and with Peter Jennings.

There is something wrong when people accept slander as the truth without bothering to find out what the guy really said, in whole and not just in part.

Here the quote:

These are warriors, and we have to realize that the principles of our way of life are in conflict with people in the world," D'Souza said.

Maher responded by saying, "We have been the cowards lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly."

Care to explain it?

Damn right. Never bring a knife to a gunfight. As coach Parcells said"whatever it takes".

And if truth is the ultimate victim, so be it.

Who needs truth and honesty, anyway?

They are just obsolete concepts that have no place in the real world.

Maher's mistake was in not properly identifying Bill Clinton as the reason for lobbing missiles from 2000 miles away.

They were Bill Clinton's tactics, not the military's, and they were cowardly.

Well, that wasn't his only mistake. A logical look at the statement shows he is comparing the terrorists who bombed to those who lob missles.

"We have been the cowards lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly."

You see, the terrorists who stayed in the plane are being compared to those who lob missles.

Is he comparing those who stayed in the plane to clintoon ?

I misunderstood the headline. I thought it meant Maher was being sent to Mars to continue his civil discourse.
