Exactly. I am not sure what the threat might have been, but the threat was very real. I found it very telling that the VP was not on the Hill Thursday evening. A cabinet member is absent at the State of the Union addresses, but the VP is there. IMHO, only the possiblility of continuing and immediate threats would necessitate his absence from such an important speech.

9/11 VP Cheney was rushed downstairs to the secure location. The Leaders of Congress were whisked away. Cabinet members were secured.

Sadly, many still do not get it. Rep. Gephardt has earned my respect (on this issue). He is 3rd in line, he knows what the score was. His support and passion has been unfailing on this issue. He was briefed. Wake up America..connect the dots. Use your brains. Put 2 & 2 together. The danger was and is very real. But we can't play "put up or shut up" with the President. Nor should we try right now.

These officials were secured because of the line of succession; not because they are buddies with President Bush.

There is only two things it could have been. Either a suitcase or backpack nuke,or a chemical/bio warfare agent bomb set to go off in DC. THAT is why Bush went to Nebraska,and why Cheney was physically picked up and taken to the secure underground room. Not to mention why the helicopters were flying political and military leaders out of DC.

MY best guess is a NEST team found and disarmed whatever it was,and as soon as they were reasonably sure there were no other devices,Bush was ALLOWED to fly back to DC. Make no mistake about this,his security people were the ones in charge of his movements that day,not him.

The thing is it is likely we will never find out. No way in hell the gooberment is willing to let the denizens of DC find out there was a bomb there.

BTW,make no mistake about it. IF a nuke HAD gone off in DC last week,the weather reports about "expect daily highs of 2000 degrees F in all of the mideast,and winds in all directions of 500MPH" would have come true. This is likely the reason why some of the more unfriendly Islamic gooberments are suddenly wanting to cooperate with us.

BTW,we all know Bubba was in Australia on the 11th,and Bubbette! and Bubbette! Jr were safely in NYC. Anybody know the location of Bubba "goombahs" like Vernon Jordan,the Rodham brothers,or McAuliff that day? Were THEY in DC?
