I disagree totally with this petition. We will honor these victims, but not on that spot. If we don't rebuild on this site, then the terrorists will have succeeded in crippling our economy.

You are misreading this petition entirely. Read the petition. It is not about the WTC site, it is about the crash site of United Flight 93 in a Pennsylvania field ... the one that the passengers tried to retake the plane.

The WTC site in Manhatten is some of the priciest real estate on the face of the planet. But our economy doesn't depend on anything being built there.

If the private sector wants to erect some new office buildings there -- fine, they can build whatever they want. But IMHO, it is disrespectful to refer to any kind of commercial real estate as a "memorial" to those who perished.

And no matter how fancy the new Manhatten offices will be, they are still not vital to our economy. This is the 21st Century: "The Information Age". More and more business is conducted electronicly. There is no need to locate in congested Manhatten.
