If we don't rebuild on this site, then the terrorists will have succeeded in crippling our economy.

The WTC site in Manhatten is some of the priciest real estate on the face of the planet. But our economy doesn't depend on anything being built there.

If the private sector wants to erect some new office buildings there -- fine, they can build whatever they want. But IMHO, it is disrespectful to refer to any kind of commercial real estate as a "memorial" to those who perished.

And no matter how fancy the new Manhatten offices will be, they are still not vital to our economy. This is the 21st Century: "The Information Age". More and more business is conducted electronicly. There is no need to locate in congested Manhatten.

Jeff, I am so sorry I responded without having read it all. I've been sure up to now never to do that and I promise never to respond again without reading everyword! These folks bravely gave their lives because the rest of us have allowed our freedoms to be eroded by the socialists we have enabled free access to our country. These folks deserve full recognition as Americans, and this memorial is the least we can do.

You are welcome. I look forward to visiting that memorial and touching the name of my UNcle who died over Germany when an 88 AA hit his B-17 just before release of their bomb load ... witnesses say the entire plane went up in a ball of fire. My Mom;s family took several years to get closure ... but are as proud of that young man as one can be.

Someday, after my time here on earth is through, I look forward to meeting him, hugging him and thanking him for his sacrifice on behalf of my liberties.
