Of course, the people on the flight that crashed in the field had the advantage of knowing what had already happened at the WTC. If one knows that the hijackers are suicidal, then an attack-at-any-cost scheme is a given. On the earlier flights, most passengers assumed that the hijackers just wanted some sort of ransom, a prisoner released or some money. If I were on a plane being hijacked, prior to September 11, it would never occur to me that the hijackers intend to kill as many people as possible, including themselves, by flying the plane into a building. It is completely unfair to assume that these people were sheep, knew what was going on, and chose to do nothing.

I would have occurred to me! People need to think outside of the box. If middle-eastern nutcases had taken over my plane, even prior to September 11, (a scenario I had often imagined since reading about thwarted terrorist plans to hijack planes and blow them up over new York), I would have immediately assumed the worst. I hope I'd be brave enough to do what I imagined - whack em with shoes, laptop, anything at hand, and hope to incite others to do the same - and tear them apart by sheer force of numbers, like the scene in "lifeboat" where Tallulah et al overwhelm the german "superman".

You are exactly correct. The upside (if you can call it that) to this atrocity is that hijacking a plane just got much harder, not due to increased security, but because the passengers will now assume that the hijackers intend to kill them, and will fight for their lives.

Seems a lot of folks are trying to read things into my postings that simply aren't there. Never did I insunuate that the folks on the "other" planes were sheep.

Never did I insinuate that the folks on the 4th plane were more worthy of respect. I feel remorse for ALL those that died in this horrible act.

What I WAS praising, is that MAYBE those in America have been given a wake up call, and will start refusing to "lay back, relax, and enjoy it."

The liberal element in this country have insisted for years that "if you don't give them a reason to, the bad guy (mugger, rapist, robber, etc...) won't hurt you, as long as you do what they say."

FWIW, the flight mentioned in this post was NOT involved in the terrorist act on 9/11/01, and I was praising the (perceived) change of heart in the pilot.

If you are looking to pick a fight about something you KNOW I didn't imply, go somewhere else. I'm tired of folks picking apart everyone's posts, looking for a reason to spew.

Oh, and one other thing. Had a person ever tried to hijack a plane I was on, I would NOT have assumed that since he SAID he wasn't going to hurt us (before or AFTER killing a flight attendant), he wouldn't. He's shown that he was untrustworthy by simply hi-jacking the A/C.

You judge a man's heart, by observing his actions.
