ALL the new processors broadcast their serial number when you use tcp/ip to connect to the network via the dialup. All network cards ALSO have a known serial number. If you have a network card, its number is broadcast even if you don't use it to connect to anyone. Every time you sign on, you get a dns assigned, and a subnet mask, and of course, the number from which you dial is NOT hidden from authorities, even if you have call blocking.

There are "illegal" signal processors today, that unblock your blocked call BEFORE the isp even connects you to the network. That is all logged. The entire dialup session is scripted on the isp end... and the transparent gif's on various sites ping servers that trace back not just to your isp... but through the KNOWN address of your isp, but through the packet information that sends the information or packet file to YOUR computer, via the phone line.

Anybody who works in internet law enforcement gets that information upon request... and in most cases, it is accessible through terms of service, without obtaining a warrant. If the ISP were to withhold the information, the same data is available through every packet sniffer program that is plugged in between your computer and every router it uses when it makes a jump. My jump from San Diego to San Francisco, where the server is, requires jumps between about 21 servers... via tcp/ip at this time. PLENTY Of opportunity for the sniffers to pin down WHO loads what page, once the transparent gif, or java script packet is accessed.

I don't do it, but have seen it done. It's easy, folks here are as transparent to the FBI, as the FBI wants them to be. That is how they did it two or three years ago. NOW they are even more sophisticated, and during war time, when we are under a form of seige, I am confident they are even more on top of things. Our anonymity is pretty much only between us.

Jim Rob does not give them anything. They can get it off the net without asking him a single question.
