Quite a heart rendering speech. America was built on a foundation of Freedom and Rights. I hope we keep it working to bring that situation back again.

An armed population would stop terrorism and crime flat in it's tracks.

President Bush have the best speech he has given to this date.

For as much as I know about Tom Ridge I was so pleased that he chose Tom Ridge. I think he is pro gun so that is good too. I would be very concerned if he had chosen someone like an anti-gun person.

Freedom and our rights have been paid for at such a high price. All our veterans know this better then anyone. And the Freedom and rights we have can be taken away in one signature of a pen. It is so fragile and yet more important then anything.

My feeling is that Bush will never allow our Freedoms to be taken away. We will have to be more diligent and careful about our safety and let the world know that we mean business with these evil terrorists and my belief is we sure will.

IMHO opinion a great speech. Like you i share some worries about the future occupants of the Homeland Security agency. It is needed at present and Ridge may set it up so that it becomes a guarantor of Liberty. Its constitutionality may be under the invasion clause or under the clause authorizing the call up of the militia to protect the nation.

In the interim I will put my reservations on hold.

As to some of the other points GWB might have made but did not I can very much see his defering those from this speech.

Lest anyone misunderstand my views on the speech. I think it will go down in history as one of the great speeches.
