"From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."Any nation? What about the IRA? What about Christian militias in Lebanon?
Do I dare point out that these "terrorists" are probably the same folks who were 'brave freedom fighters' when the objects of their terrorism were the Russians?

The best speech ever given by any President. And this was conceded by non other than Dan Rather.
Are you joking? What did Rather say?

Rather needs to give his ratings a boost. Don't trust him. Not unless he openly repents.

It's good to have a REAL President for a change..

There's a legal definition in the US Code. Basically, if you use terror as your primary weapon, you're a terrorist.

Jeff, thank you for the ping, my friend.

"Americans have known the casualties of war, but not at the center of a great city on a peaceful morning. Americans have known surprise attacks, but never before on thousands of civilians. All of this was brought upon us in a single day, and night fell on a different world, a world where freedom itself is under attack."
I wonder how many Serbs in Yugoslavia are scratching their heads and wondering why americans are able to understand this when it's happening on their soil, but unable to understand when their government does this to someone else?

Jean, this was, far and away, the very best speech I've seen Bush deliver, thus far. Absolutely magnificent.

Even my yellow-dog-Democrat uncle liked it! hehe

Someone said "as good as FDR" and Rather responded "Yes, it was possibly the best speech ever by an American president." He was positively...ecstatic. He was...(God, what is the world coming to) patriotic.

Quite a heart rendering speech. America was built on a foundation of Freedom and Rights. I hope we keep it working to bring that situation back again.
An armed population would stop terrorism and crime flat in it's tracks.

It would have been an excellent opportunity to rekindle the flame of liberty in this country. "We are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom." -- GWB

An armed population would stop terrorism and crime flat in it's tracks. Amen bro.
I believe the best thing Homeland Security can do is to make it easy for the Sheriff's and Governors to have armed citizens establish a first line of watch and defense for local water systems, sub-stations and other local, non critical (from a national perspective) resources and potential targets and establish a comm net tieng them to the State Nat. guard and the Federal forces.
Just a thought.

"-- Release all foreign nationals, including American citizens you have unjustly imprisoned." This must be in reference to the Americans and other Christians they have in jail and are threatning to kill for preaching Christianity. I sure hope we don't overlook these poor folks.

And to think, CNN at this moment has on an ex- Clinton speech writer. They are asking him questions such as, "Would the President participate in writing such a speech to a joint session of congress?", and, "How much would he participate in such a creative endeavor?", and, "Would he rehearse it?", yada, yada. The clear implication is simple: CNN asks, "Did Bush actually WRITE this great speech?"
CNN asks the WRONG question. They should be introspective, and ask, "Did we REALLY elect a man who favors style over substance last time. Twice?!"
Ah, those tireless liberals. Yes, character DOES count!!
