I have seen some horrific things here in the states and elsewhere in the world, including death and tragedy, but I cannot imagine being eyewitness to that horror, particularly those bodies raining down like that.
Yet I know insticntively that we cannot let the horror of it pass, we cannot forget what these animals did to our camrades and compatriots ... to our brother and sister Americans who were simply living their lives, going about their everyday tasks and business.
I have not posted this picture before today, but just added it to my main page. Someone had the presence of mind to take the following picture and lived to get it out.
From this angle you can clearly see the failing top portion of that tower, how it is falling a little off to the side and coming apart itself as it does. I believe the terrorists planned to take the buildings down, planned to weaken the structure enough so that the resulting fire would cause the structure to fail and then the collpasing upper floors would bring the rest down.
But the very method of their plan proved to be salvation for thousands because it took 45-60 minutes for the buildings to fail, in which time many thousands were able to escape the buildings. Had the buildings collpased immediately, we'd have 20,000+ dead I believe ... even more.
Nonetheless, for the thousands who were killed, we must keep alive in our memory and that of our descendants the horror of what occurred ... so we can deliver a just and lasting retribution to those who planned and carried out the attack as well as those who are harboring them. And, so we can keep the fire of vigilance and liberty burning brghtly for the generations to come.
