Geez, being an old intel weenie, I'd really like to know how much information was available prior to these acts of war. But second guessing doesn't do us a lot of good now.

No, but you see our hands were completely tied on this. There was absolutely nothing we could do. We couldn't stop them coming across the Mexican border because, well, that simply isn't done. After all, if we stopped folksas they come across the border illegally, we surely find some carrying dope and to stop them would eventually inconvenience Mexican drug lords and cost Mexican politicians money.

Then would couldn't stop them coming north because that would involve the dreaded concept of profiling. Here, it would be racial profiling. No, our hands were tied. Thanks for thinking of us and if you have some information that involves evil, white Christians, we'll jump all over that. If it involves black or brown, illegals, gays, or women, geeze, there's not much we can do with it. But, thanks again.

I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination the Mossad caught wind of the schemes that were to go down here; but they knew-not when.

This story makes it sound as though these people came here recently via Cuba, Canada etc...which wouldn't have been hard given the ease of gaining access to our country?
It'd been my understanding many (if not all) of the perps had been living here for some time already before launching their attacks.

This story would be easy enough to check for validity by simply checking existing INS records in an effort at seeing exactly how long the principles involved in the attacks were actually here.
