If you're going to lock the cockpit (which, I agree, should be done), what good would arming the pilot and co-pilot do?

Air marshalls are a good idea. However, I think anyone who ever makes a move on a flight attendant again will be jumped and severely beaten.

The pilot on 10 hour flights will be peeing in rubber boots and cabin air crews will be dead.

I'm not as optimistic as you. Remember, just recently how some people have behaved in the air, throwing massive hissy fits when they don't get something they want and attacking flight attendants who tried to calm them down? I hope that kind of misbehavior by passengers on airplanes will not be tolerated any longer(and my guess is that the penalties will be stiffened due to the difficulty of distinguishing it from the initial stages of genuine terrorism on a plane), but I still wonder if the spoiled brat people who pull that kind of crap will be right back in action after this has died down a bit.
