Good post.
My son is talking about enlisting, and my future daughter-in-law (gulp) is an AZ NG Combat Medic.
She's ready to go, already...

It doesn't sound like she understands what being in the military is all about. She should read "The Greatest Generation." We've had soft lives since Vietnam, so many of our young people don't understand the hard cold reality of what it takes to be free...certainly, Laura doesn't. I, for one, as a mother of two small kids, am grateful that we have a standing army that is fierce, well-trained and ready to die for our way of life. I know because my cousin is one of them, and I wouldn't want him mad at me.

(Sigh) Why doesn't this "soldier" just suggest we surrender? After all, we wouldn't want to inconvenience anyone. (/bitter sarcasm)

BUMP for your # 7. Fortunately, the majority of our people don't feel this way.

Sometimes a PFC needs a little attitude adjustment by the First Sergeant or Platoon Sergeant (On at least one occasion General Patton had to bitch slap a coward). I hope this soldier's opinion comes to their attention, soon.

the only comfort I think we can give her are the words of Patton: Victory is not gained by the soldier dying in the foxhole for his (in this case, her) country, but by making the other bastard die for his country.
What, does she think we're going to do what the enemy made their soldiers do? Commit suicide?
Geez.....

"...women are perfectly qualified for a majority of combat positions..."Keep dreaming. The vast majority of them don't have the strength, the endurance or the mindset to prevail in combat. It's well-known that they slow everybody else down in basic training and that men have to carry their load for them.

Her perspective is not unusual in the reserves. I did 4yrs active with the 82d airborne which was alright and everyone I served with knew that we were never more than a week away from getting shot at but when I got out and went into the Guard while doing college I met some guardsmen and reservists who were only in it for the educational benefits and the beer money (space available flights etc.) basically bums with short hair and shiny boots. That was before the gulf war, things may have changed since then but your post makes me think it hasn't changed very much.

How pathetic. Fortunately this loser is the exception not the rule.
Our real men and women in uniform are just waiting from orders from the top.
They will exact a payment from the people who did this, never doubt them.

Tell those in charge to do away with the age limit and let me back in the service.
I will take your place. I live in Oregon.

If I didn't know better, I'd think this chick is French.

Don't worry honey, we won't. We just want all that money back, which we spent training you to be in the military.

It is pathetic that people can voluntarily join an armed service and then are shocked when they are called on to fight.

Her comrades-in-arms need to know this before they trust their lives to this traitor.

Remember Desert Storm, where there were reservists and guardsmen who didn't want to go. It set a bad precedent that we now are going to have to live with due to the lenient treatment these cowards got. Luckily, most of us know these people were no indicator of the courage of the fine men and women in the guard and reserve who went, but the media back then managed to find all of them. I guess the recruiter didn't tell them the part that they may have to go to war. This girl wanted her free education dollars from Uncle Sugar, but thought it was a one way street. Wrong.
To: SAMWolf
Yep, the stupid bitch joined the Oregon Treehugger Guard to get college money, and now she's having second thoughts.
Besides, what does she have to worry about. She's in a support unit, more than likely.
Thankfully, the infantry don't have to worry about this crap. Now that war is here, all the pc crap will get thrown over the side.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

What the h-ll?&(!?
Did she think she was joining the 'free-love, quilting society' or something?
Does that idiot think that freedom comes 'free'?
Does she actually think the perps are going to just waltz over here & give themselves up?
I'm completely flabbergasted at the incredible stupidity this twit has demonstrated.
I can't believe that she's represents any sizable part of the US military.
