On the other hand I grew up in Brooklyn, in a direct flight pattern for JFK - aircraft traffic never bothered me!
When I first moved here I covered all levels of government and I remember a battle in City Hall about the railroad tracks. Here I am, the new kid on the block and these people are complaining about the noise of freight trains coming through during the night. Come to find out those tracks and trains have been there for a couple generations and most of these people had been there for a couple years.
They were ticked at me when I questioned some of the rsidents about the fact they knew before they bought their homes that the tracks were there.
NIMBY mentality drives me nuts.
