Yes, the queen and the British get it, the scene at The palace where they played OUR national anthem said more then anything a politicain could have said!!

The other that really struck me, was the woman in London, an American flag is hanging at half mast in a square somewhere, this woman is clutching and hugging the flag and is crying. It not only struck me, it knocked me down.

I am not a man who cries easily, I NEVER cry, but last week, I cried more then I ever have in my entire life. The terrible destruction and loss of life, the incredible coming together of this country, and the upwelling of good wishes from our allies. It was almost more then even I could bare, but the woman in London, hugging and holding that flag and just crying, REALLY, REALLY struck me.

You are a real man. A man who would not cry in the face of such human carnage is a beast, a hulk of protoplasm. We all need a good national cry, and then Geronimo.

Hopefully, someday I will have your level of ego-strength.
Until then, I'll simply deny any rumors circulating that I was doing the same thing.
And getting some weird chills hearing the Cold Stream Guards and Old St. Paul's
yielding the tones of our national anthem.

The first time my stunned shock turned to violent tears was when it was reported that the flag at 10 Downing Street had been lowered to half staff. The reality that this attack was not just on America and we would not be alone in fighting back hit me at that moment. Especially, when you consider that London has felt many terrorist bombs in the past 30 years, and the bombs of Germany before that, they know the pain and fear that we experienced on Tuesday.
