I Couple Of Questions and Thoughts about the Bombing...

Posted on 09/16/2001 10:03:59 PM PDT by The Black Knight

Thought Number One: Has anybody read "Debt of Honor" by Tom Clancy? In the end, a terrorist kills the pilot, hijacks the plane, and flies it into the capitol building. It kills everybody there, and becomes a rallying cry of the American people. That came out before I graduated, probably in 1996, or before. Spooky, huh? Does that kinda remind you of the book about the Titan, a couple of years before the Titanic sank?

Thought Number Two: Does anyone know the status of the imprisoned Americans? The ones arrested by the Taliban for preaching Christianity? Could they be used as leverage, or would the Taliban just use 'em as human shields?

Thought Number Three: Does anyone think that it is a coincidence that China became buddy-buddy with Afghanistan just before this happened? I don't know, so you're opinions would be helpful. And on that note...

Final Thought:Is it just me, or is it a coincidence that Saudi Arabia cancelled a major military exercise just before planes started slamming into the heart of America?

TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS:
I just thought about all of these, and your thoughts would be appreciated.

Of course they will be used as human shields, that is the way of these criminals. Fortunately, I think our current President is tough enough not to be swayed by such tactics.

I believe the Capitol was the primary DC target for 3 planes: the Dome, and one each for Senate and House. The White House and Pentagon were only secondary. These were not good pilots. The WTC job was screwed up too. First plane was too high. Second was 18 minutes late and not level or centered. Total goal was atleast 30,000 dead and financial center and government wiped out. Clancy warned us, but his was a Japanese plot.

"DEBT OF HONOR" was a thoughtful book, for a "spy thriller".Tom Clancy has no military experience himself, but he listens carefully to what his many military friends tell him. (I actually first found out about one particular weapon system from a Tom Clancy book- and I was in the Special Operations business for a good many years!)

As to the "human shield" thing, I am extremely sorry for these people. Remember that there were a number of American POWs (mainly captured aircrew) in Hiroshima when we dropped the Bomb- and President Truman knew it. War is not fair, and this is going to be a real war, not a Nintendo game.

Afghans Might Hang Christian Aid Workers
NewsMax.com Wires
Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Eight Western aid workers charged with spreading Christianity in Afghanistan might be sentenced to death, an official said Wednesday. Reports emerged of a Taliban offer to exchange the detainees for an unspecified number of Muslim terrorists and other militants imprisoned around the world. "We will punish them according to law," said Taliban Chief Justice Maulawi Noor Mohammad Saqib. "If they are found guilty, they will be hanged."

The accused would be allowed to have foreign, non-Muslim lawyers, Saqib said.

The eight Westerners, including four Germans, two Americans and two Australians, were among 24 members of Shelter Now International arrested Aug. 6. The other 16 were Afghans.

Their trial began Tuesday behind closed doors. They face charges of preaching Christianity in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.

There was no information on when they would appear in court, but the court was examining Bibles and other material allegedly seized from the homes and offices of the detainees.

Diplomats who sought a meeting with Saqib to clarify legal procedure were turned away. Saqib said they would be contacted if and when necessary.

In a related development, the Taliban proposed to the United States that the aid workers be exchanged for Muslim prisoners, including the World Trade Center bomber, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, who is in a U.S. prison, Lebanon's al-Mustaqbal newspaper reported Wednesday.

The newspaper quoted a source close to the banned Egyptian Islamic Grouping as saying the Taliban offer was relayed to Washington via a U.S. citizen of Arab descent living in New York. The unnamed mediator said he received the proposal from a hard-line Egyptian leader living in Afghanistan with strong ties to Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.

The newspaper said though the Taliban said it was determined to try the eight Westerners, Islamic sources in Egypt said the movement would be ready for a deal that would secure the release of jailed Arab fundamentalists.

In a statement in Cairo, Abdel Rahman's wife, Aisha, appealed to Mullah Omar and President Bush to go ahead with the deal because of her husband's health.

Mullah Omar was expected to have the last word on the fate of the Westerners. No one has previously been tried for preaching Christianity, and this is the first time the Taliban has put non-Muslims on trial. The Afghan defendants were to be tried at a later date.

A ruling earlier this year said Afghan Muslims converting to another religion would be sentenced to death. But a senior Taliban official said Tuesday that any Afghan convicted of converting to Christianity would be given three days to renounce his faith. He would then be spared the death penalty but would still face other punishments for betraying his religion and traditions.

You know, I have excellent reading comprehension skills (800 on the Verbal SAT's, read 2 to 5 books a week)- but I somehow can never figure out just exactly what it is that you are trying to say! Do YOU even know what your ramblings mean? You seem to be on all sides of every issue- is this just a hobby with you, or are you demented?

In the end, a terrorist kills the pilot, hijacks the plane, and flies it into the capitol building.

This isn't quite right. The terrorist is the pilot so he doesn't have to hijack the plane. He kills the co-pilot to keep from being stopped. This book was the first thing I thought about that terrible evening.

I have wondered the same thing.

This nutcase loves to hear himself think, believes he is profound, and feels compelled to share his insane ramblings with us.

Sort of a wannabe Ted Kaszinski...

Say! You don't suppose he has access to a computer, do you?

Yes, Publius- I was not jokinhg in my post, above. I really think this moron has a mental problem of some magnitude. I have saved quite a few of his "ramblings", and I cannot make heads or tails out of them. Sometimes he SEEMS to make sense, but then he will contradict himself on another thread. And many of his posts are simply incomprehensible.

There is a real possibility that he is schizophrenic, and that all of this makes sense to HIM! (No, I'm not trying to make a joke- search on his posts, read 25 or 30 of them, and see if you don't agree).

Perhaps he is confined in an institution, and this is part of his therapy?

You gave me an opportunity to say something I've been thinking about - was this a "false flag" op by a country who has a lot to gain? It took a lot of skill, logistics, tradecraft, and self discipline to pull off - it wasn't a truck bomb or attack on a moored ship. We know what, but how about "who" and "why". I don't doubt the desire of the Islamists, but the competence of the thing... Do we have enemies who are menaced by freaknut Islamists, who would like a U.S. attack on these people? Did a historically implacable enemy "let these dogs out"?

Which explains why LEGAL solutions will not end terrorism and why it's foolish to even try. They have their laws. We have ours. In the eyes of the world, which laws are just?

At least when it comes to military force, there's only one way to keep score - whichever is still standing gets to keep their laws. And nobody argues what the meaning of "is" is.

So anyone who disagrees with your ramblings has "an inability to comprehend difficult truths?"

Actually my point was that much (most) of what you deposit on these pages is essentially meaningless drivel, dressed up in oh-so-educated language. I suspect that you are one of the myriad of pseudo-intellectuals who infest academia, doing nothing useful but looking down on everyone who works for a living.

It is obvious that posting these often incoherent and dismissive babblings is a form of mental masturbation - you get some pleasure out of it, I don't.

I have wasted my time for the LAST time even looking at anything you post. So go on and have fun with your particular form of solitary vice!
