It's officially Operation Noble Eagle I thought that was the official name of the Homeland Defense portion of the War.

Hmm. No name for the overseas offensive? How about Operation Desert Pig Roast.

PS I think the offensive is called Operation Screaming Eagle... (as a harley rider i can appreciate that!)

Bump for Beamer rolling up to St. Peter for a hero's welcome.
Bump for Osama's head in a jar on the Oval Office desk for Bush's next fireside chat.
Bump for not giving flight attendants keys to the cockpit.
Bump for rolling up this terrorist network one sleeper strapped to a DieHard at a time.

Mr. Beamer, we hear you loud and clear.
Hope that we can live up to the standard you, and your fellow passengers established.

the Presidential Medal of Freedom I believe, and a USS Jeremy Glick and an USS Todd Beamer This deserves a great big bump.
As a former sailor and the brother of an active duty sailor, I say that I would have been proud to ride the waves on ships named after men like this.

"But, gven the number of cell phone conversations we're hearing about, they may make a special effort to make sure none of them get billed." I can easily see how that line entry for the last call could become a family heirloom, treasured for generations.
That said, it would be in poor taste for the fee to not be waived.

One of the widows said her husband told her, "We took a vote ... three of us are going to take them out," or similar wording. The way I read that,
all the passengers took a vote on whether they would: (1) try to save themselves somehow by not interfering with the hijackers or (2) try to save the ground target by letting several volunteers among them take out the hijackers.
This is excellent news, if I am understanding it rightly, on more than one front. First, it rules out lawsuits for wrongful death for the surviving family members. Second, it provides a pattern for any passengers in future situations. Third, their votes make every passenger on that flight eligible for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in my opinion.

Well, it seems to me that it wouldn't be consistent with their objective. Sure it would. If they failed at gaining control of the aircraft, of if the passengers were able to stage a counterattack, at least SOMETHING would be salvaged from it--a dead plane and dead passengers.
