20 billion will someone itemize this for me, I am not intending to be critical but what is left to pay after insurance is paid. I know the clean up and city worker pay is going to be high, but 20B, is this a knee jerk figure?

When I take action, he said, Im not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. Its going to be decisive.
Winston Churchill might not have used those words, but hed have loved the sentiment
And like Churchill....eight dark years in the wilderness....

I don't for one minute believe believe that OUR President is a "late Bloomer", and I don't believe that these writers believe that either. They are trying to cover their tracks becaus they have been revealed for the true morons that they are. When I heard that our President was in a safe place, I was thankful because I knew that he was either in prayer or seeking the wisdom of the God appointed advisors that he has surrounded himself with. The people that I work with felt the same way. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that the nation's leaders need to be working behind the scenes instead of creating one by looking for photo ops and free publicity, which is something that the previous administration did very well.

Thanks for posting this piece. I read it at another forum and impressed by the camel's butt quote, said in front of hillary. It is quite a turn-a-round for Fineman, but it also could be his mag is going down. I wrote to him and told him everytime I went to the Drs. office, I would dump Newsweek in the trash. Being as I get a shot once a month, it ought to do the trick.

None of this attack could be a real surprise in the sense it was when/where, not if it would happen. Our president is rising to the challenge in a way most would not be able to do, and in ways most did not expect he could. I can't imagine what this would be like if the other candidate had won/stolen/succeeded with the election. You have to have personal integrity, courage, faith in the Lord, and be able to rally the people around you to lead a country through this mess. May we all work together to do whatever needs to be done in this time of cowardly attack on innocent people, those directly involved and all the rest that this ripples out to and affects.

And once again, as is his habit in life, hes exceeding expectations, learning on the run before our eyes. God, protect President Bush

And like Churchill....eight dark years in the wilderness.... But those eight years are gone now that we have a real leader, and a President we can be proud of in the WH!

Since Newsweek is a weekly, you need to find yourself a more serious ailment. :)

I, for one, am sick of this lamestream 'Siskel & Ebertarian' flapdoddle in lieu of substantive analysis. The Hollywood culture of entertainment has no place in current affairs.

Apparently, the Liberal idea of a "leader" is one who takes pictures, instead of taking action. That's why they love clinton.
Their try at portraying Bush as being concerned with only his safety was given the lie when Presidet Bush mingled with thousands of people in NY. There may have been SS there, but they could have afforded very little protection under those circumstances. That didn't stop President Bush from appearing there, where and when his presence was truly needed for the benefit of the country.

Great leadership from Bush, thank the heavens that Algore didn't become prez.

Newsweek is really going to work on the damamge control. Their timing was about as bad as it could be last week. They had a cover story questioning the legitimacy of George W. Bush's presidency that hit the stands on....Tuesday, September 11. I thought it was poetic justice.

We don't need Howard Fineman, who was unabashedly criticizing Bush a week ago to tell us what is what!

I've spent the last year trying to not hear Bush speak because he always strikes me as being about three syllables from complete syntactical meltdown. But he's giving the world a great look at the heart and conviction of a man who doesn't give a whiz what anyone thinks of his speechifying. Thank God there's someone in the Oval Office who doesn't use every possible change in the wind to mug for the camera. Most FReepers would probably be certifiably insane by now if this had happened on Clinton's watch.
