Freeh: Real threat far right,Christian,Patriot,Militia..not from foreign sources

Posted on 09/16/2001 8:21:38 AM PDT by robnoel

Is it not ironic that the head of the FBI and the Clinton admin spent 8 years going after Americans...as Gary Aldrich pointed out yesterday

We were even given a new set of "enemies" to consider. Call it a distraction. We were told that the real threat was not from some Islamic fundamentalists who vowed to commit terrorist acts to bring us to our knees. No, Bill Clinton and Janet Reno and their friends on Capitol Hill and in the media spoke as one voice about the home-grown threat posed by church-going Americans, protesting against partial birth abortion.

And then they demonized well-organized militia groups with - gasp - actual guns! who were complaining about Clinton's liberal agenda. They were considered suspicious because they expressed absolute disgust for our Commander in Chief.

I submit these same bearded, flannel-shirted "suspicious characters" are now running the backhoes and girder cutters in New York City, working around the clock until they drop from exhaustion, attempting to do what real Americans have always done.

Meanwhile, the "girly-men" Liberals and their strident molls scratch their heads and wonder how and why Tuesday happened. After all, weren't they nice to these terrorists? Didn't they display the correct amount of tolerance for another peoples' religious beliefs? Didn't Hillary Clinton actually embrace and kiss Arafat's wife?

From a Salon piece..The hyping of domestic terrorism

Just over a year ago, on Feb. 4, 1999, Freeh testified on the subject of terrorism before the Senate Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on the departments of Commerce, Justice and State. Freeh's testimony was overlooked in every news account this week, but his detailed evaluation makes the Bremer Commission's hold on reality appear tenuous. "The frequency of terrorist incidents in the United States has decreased in number," Freeh emphasized. Since the World Trade Center bombing of 1993, Freeh pointed out, "no single act of foreign-directed terrorism has occurred on American soil."

Support for violent revolutionaries emanating from Cuba and North Korea, he noted, "appear to have declined" with those nations' economic free falls. Even the American cells of violent Middle East political movements as Hamas and Hezbollah, Freeh declared, are devoted exclusively to "fundraising and low-level intelligence gathering."

Just how much terrorism is not much? Freeh testified that in fiscal 1998, the FBI prevented 10 planned "terrorist acts." Not one emanated from abroad. Nine of the 10 "terrorist acts" were planned by a single, small cluster of Illinois white supremacists hoping to assassinate Holocaust scholar Simon Wiesenthal and Morris Dees, the anti-Klan crusader who runs the Southern Poverty Law Center. The other forestalled attack involved a lone individual, a militia type, from Washington state.

Foreign students did not figure in Freeh's account at all. Indeed, Freeh told Congress that the main threat of terrorist violence comes not from foreign sources but from the overlapping constituencies of the far right: abortion-clinic assassins, Christian Identity militias and the like.

Talk about a blown call :-)

Freeh shares responsibility for the WTC attacks, since his FBI missed the terrorists planning for months if not years.

I strongly agree that the emphasis on domestic terrorism has been politically biased during the Clinton adminsitration, at the expense of not indentifying foreign terrorists on United States soil. Even the INS has turned a blind eye to illegal aliens for political purposes. I do disagree with the claims that the FBI has ignored international terrorism. Read the FBI May 10, 2001 testimony on terrorism:

FBI Press Room - Congressional Statement - 2001 - Threat of Terrorism to the United States

Also interesting reading is the following 1998 report:

Foreign Terrorists in America: Five years after the World Trade Center An excerpt:
Presence of Foreign Terrorist Groups in the United States

Today, due to the foresight of the Congress and Executive Branch in the aftermath of the World Trade Center and Oklahoma City bombings, the FBI has an enhanced capability to track the activities of foreign terrorist organizations maintaining a presence in the United States.

There are obvious operational considerations that limit what we can discuss in an open forum about the presence of terrorist groups in the United States. I can tell you that the FBI has identified a significant and growing organizational presence here.

Palestinian Hamas, Iranian-backed Hizballah, and Egyptian-based al-Gama' at al Islamiyya each has established an active presence in the United States. The activities of the American wings of these organizations generally revolve around fund-raising and low-level intelligence gathering.

In addition, there are still significant numbers of Iranian students attending U.S. universities and technical institutions. In 1997, 419 student visas were issued to new and returning Iranian students. A significant number of these individuals are hardcore members of the pro-Iranian student organization known as the Anjoman Islamie, which is comprised almost exclusively of fanatical, anti-American, Iranian Shiite Muslims. The Iranian government relies heavily on these students studying in the United States for low-level intelligence and technical expertise. However, the Anjoman Islamie also provides a significant resource base which allows the government of Iran to maintain the capability to mount operations against the United States, if it so decided.

I know the Freeh family personaly and while I'm willing to admit there were mistakes made, his loyalty to this country is awesome.

Did you the Robert Hanssen family, too? Bet their loyalty was awesome! "there were mistakes made,..." Gosh, that has a familiar ring to it.

I have despised Freeh for a long time.

He clearly had an agenda against the right. Ruby Ridge was a completely manufactured event against an innocent man. (He was found innocent of all the charges for which the event was conducted, only guilty of not answering a summons to appear in court.)

I recall camping in North Georgia several months after they began hunting Eric Rudolph. There were large numbers of Federal Agents still hunting him.

I couldn't help wonder this. What if a bunch of PETA nuts had sabotaged logging equipment and caused the death of a couple of loggers. Would the FBI and other agencies have devoted thousands of agents and a large part of their budgets to hunt them down? I think the answer is obvious. (They should have assigned a normal number of agents to find Rudolph and probably would have had a better chance to do so if they had).

Freeh also privately disagreed with Reno, but when push came to shove he always protected her and Clinton.

He clearly hated the Christian Right and other hard right groups and I am glad to see him gone.

Freeh was a mole. It's obvious if you look at his actions.

No, Freeh was a decent guy, who was put in an impossible position by Bill Clinton and Janet Reno. He could have resigned, but if he had clinton would have rushed to put someone far worse into the job, as he did in key positions all over his administration.

But what you say echoes what I have said many times. Not only the FBI but the news media and, for the past eight years, our federal government, has concentrated on the wrong people. Huge numbers of FBI agents were sent after a single abortion-clinic bomber; huge numbers were assigned to find some kind of "conspiracy" among sidewalk counselors that would justify using the RICO laws to throw them all in jail; tanks and helicopters were sent after a few fringe wingnuts, while the really dangerous people--Chinese spies, Islamic terrorists--walked around free of supervision or even paid for their pains by a grateful clinton government.

Freeh went along with it, and a lot of the mud rubbed off on his reputation, but he didn't have much choice. Publicly resigning would have been useless, because neither clinton nor the press ever showed any sense of shame at such events. They would have loved it. No doubt they would have made Sandy Berger or some similar slimebag the new FBI director.

Don't get me wrong I have spoken with Gary Aldrich many times and he has stated in no uncertain terms that there are good God fearing patriot FBI agents still in the agency.. not many but a few are still there....however Freeh blew this one for political reasons....pure and simple....the problem when we talk about ..be it a government agency, race, sexual preference, religion, militia, christians etc most tend to think we always paint with a broad brush ..part of the group think mentality...which could not further from the truth...there is good and bad in everything,,,,group think is a tactic of the left Clinton used this to perfection....to the point of lumping Rush into my domain.....hate radio :-)

I forgot perhaps the most despicable thing Freeh did.

.After Ruby Ridge, two of the FBI leaders were given official reprimands. (I am a retired federal employee and it is common knowledge that a reprimand in your personnel file is a career killer, many who get one simply resign.)

A few weeks after their reprimands, Freeh promoted both, one of them to deputy directo. The reprimands were clearly meant as window dressing for the public while in private Freeh clearly loved their illegal and murderous actions.

I am going by memory but I think their names were Rogers and Potts.

John Knight of the Father's Manifesto website: "And even IF it was the Palestinians--WE MUST NOT FORGET THAT WE deserved THIS for consorting with the Jews."

Michael Hoffman II: The six pointed star (Jewry's capital after Jerusalem, New York City), and the five-pointed star (Masonry's military capital, Arlington's five sided Pentagon), were shown to be symbolically and literally weak on Sept. 11....I will not be flying the Stars and Stripes this week. I will be wearing black for the America I knew once and for the Americans of the future, fated to shed ever more blood in a vicious circle of atrocity and counter-atrocity, so that a gang of Khazars and Sephardim may rape and ruin Palestine to their hearts' content.

Although, liberal types are unable to distinguish between real threats and good and decent people, I have debated those in the Christian Identity movement. I've read articles by Michael Hoffman II and David Duke concerning this attack. These people are, in fact, defending the terrorist actions and blaming our government's support of Israel for the actions. They hate the government and Jews so much, there is no regard for defending our nation, the innocent Americans whose lives were ended or any desire to stop Islamic extremists that threaten the nation. Yes, there are certain racists and anti-semites that despise this country to much that they are dangerous.

--maybe he's a fervent flag waver, it still doesn't excuse his incompetency and the evil his agency has engaged in. They shafted weaver big time. His employee, horribleuichi, is a murderer. And they blew it on this past week's attack. It was a complete and utter failure, no other words for it. He needs to voluntarily resign, if he has any honor left and is a patriot. He's over his head, he's a prime example of the peter principle in effect in governmental management. He has skewed priorities, and mis-manages his people. These various fedcop outfits put too much emphasis on things like "controlling and investigating" ripped off farmers in klamath falls, and ignore for the most part the actual foreign murdering threats to this nation. Time for freeh to leave.

Freeh let Craig "Flintstone" Livingston off the hook in the case of the illegal purloining of Republican FBI files because he said Craig saved his son from drowning in some pond.

He also let Betty Curry off the hook when she hid supoenaed evidence under her bed in the Monigate scandal. Let you or me hide supoenaed evidence under our beds and see if we get a free pass!!

Some are using the attack as a weapon to silence justifiable criticism of Clinton's stewardship of the internal security system in the United States. We are supposed to keep silent because of the war effort, or be branded as "haters of America." Well, someone refused to extradite one of the kamikaze camel jockeys to Israel a few years ago, and the FBI had three of them in investigative detention in NYC and kicked them loose. Freeh bragged to Congress that he was "populating" and "tracking" the terrorist cells in the US, rather than arresting them as aliens with terrorist connections are not allowed into this country, and we all know now what a dismal failure Freeh's efforts were. We have over 5,000 reasons to dissect and criticize these failures, and Newt Gingrich, Lee Hamilton, Warren Rudman, and Gary Hart were doing so just yesterday on C-Span, calling for an overhaul of internal security and pointing out the failures. If they can do it, we should be able to do it without having our "patriotism" questioned, particularly by people who have the failure put right in front of their noses but avert their eyes. You don't learn to prevent such disasters in the future by doing that. The terrorists lived among us. Even a mainstream figure like Limbaugh admits that. Instead of dealing with the threat, Louis Freeh went after a rag-tag operation like the "militias" and eccentrics like the Freemen. It was a FAILED POLICY, and led to widespread erosion of the FBI's base of support among conservative Americans, who had previously supported the Bureau. The Leftists the Bureau was trying to win over will never really support them.

Freeh quickly left, despite Bush's willingness to keep him on, as the Hanssen investigation began heating up. He never took his polygraph, and Hanssen was put in charge of the prestigious NYC office of counterintelligence by Louis the Liar. That might not make him a mole, but it sure makes him STUPID.

One thing I've been looking for since January is an article touching on the subject of whether the Bush administration, for the most part, left the Jackson Stephens phone/data system in place. If they did in any way, shape or form, they're crazy.

The White House Phone System Boondoggle - The Clinton administration may have broken the law FR

New cover-up: 'Project PBX' White House changed phone software to disguise long-distance caller traffic

Dialing for DNC dollars? - Clinton rigged Arkansas phone system to hide fund-raising calls: state official

Webb Hubbell and Big Brother (WHODB)

Whistle-Blower Stuns White House

Charles Wilbourne Miller - Arkancide

Why Red China Targeted the Clinton White House
"The safe room holding the keys is what Charlie Smith, president of Virginia-based Softwar Co. and a critic of Clipper, calls the "Mission: Impossible" room, with the big mainframe computer, stacks of classified data, secret radio frequencies and wired alarm systems. "It's a highly classified library with guards," Smith says. "The clipper or key recovery as it is currently being called was supposed to protect government secrets. Instead, they have built an electronic version of Pearl Harbor and put it neatly in one little row where one guy can walk in and then walk out with it."

There also are others involved in Clinton fund-raising to whom congressional committees are anxious to pose questions about interest in secret U.S. technology. Ira Sockowitz, a Clinton administration lawyer, admitted during a deposition with Judicial Watch, a Washington-based watchdog group pursuing the Clipper documents in relation to Huang's activities at Commerce, that he walked out of the Commerce Department with CIA, NSC and NSA classified files on encryption or decoding software, spy satellites, China, Russia and other countries. Sockowitz, who had a top-secret clearance, was appointed by Clinton to serve as a special legal counsel in Commerce. He says he simply was transferring the files to his new post at the Small Business Administration, where he became deputy administrator in the spring of 1996. The records removed contain some 2,800 pages, including a classified report called "A Study of the International Market for Computer Software With Encryption."

Sockowitz, now a Washington consultant, claims he never met Huang, although the two men worked together on the Asian Pacific American Working Group -the principal unit in the DNC responsible for raising about $7 million in campaign contributions in the Asian communities during 1996 - much of it returned because of questionable origins.

How spooky does it get? An odd link to this story is that the NSA chose Arkansas-based Systematics on Sept. 14, 1990, to construct the "Mission: Impossible" room called the Secured Compartmentalized Information Facility, or SCIF, in Fort Gillem, Ga., according to an unclassified NSA memo. At that time Systematics was run by Jackson Stephens who, along with Mochtar Riady and James Riady controlled Lippo's Worthen bank, which gave Clinton a multimillion-dollar loan to get through the 1992 presidential election. The same Lippo Group, which later dumped Worthen, is linked to China Resources, a front for Chinese military-intelligence operations, say U.S. defense intelligence sources.

The concern of the U.S. intelligence community is whether Chinese agents penetrated the SCIF. An NSA staffer notes that the Chinese once managed to bug the Russian Embassy in Beijing, and that if they built the SCIF "they could do a lot of things there."

It was my hope we need not talk about this however considering you bring it up....there are many fringe groups that try to associate themselves with Christian,Militia,Patriot groups...just like communist groups who associate themselves with enviromental or racial groups....but if you look at Christian Indenity groups and the like you will find they are National Socialists....and are as far as you can get from those who hold strong feelings toward God,country the constitution, bill of rights and the vision of the founding fathers

In the late nineteenth century, the Christian Socialist movement enjoyed a revival in Great Britain, and gained popularity in the United States as well.  Journals were published in both countries under the title "The Christian Socialist," and progressive Christians from all over both nations were able to contribute their thoughts to these movement organs. ,  It is fair to say that the Christian Socialist movement was eclipsed by secular socialist movements (the Fabian Society and the Labour Party in Great Britain, Eugene Debs' Socialist Party in the United States), which derived much of their impetus and appeal from the groundwork laid by these earlier advocates of the so called Social Gospel.
