Why put the onus on us for trying him?

That indeed is a dangerous onus. Can you imagine the fear of any court in America that tries these terrorists? Would you be willing to sit on that Jury knowing that there is a strong probability that you will be the target of terrorists who will seek to kill you for exacting judgement on one of their leaders?

It is a silly idea that we can get "Justice" in this situation. To bring Bin Laden to our shores for trial would be to invite terrorism against our Justice system. Just kill him and everyone like him.

Justice in a civilized world means nothing to someone like bin Laden. Justice is, in fact, a civilized concept which is foreign to him and people like him. That's why threatening to bomb Afganistan even farther back into the stone age or killing tens of thousands of innocent people in retaliation would mean nothing to him. We cannot stop this by lowering ourselves to his level. We need to direct our attacks to him and people like him and their organizations. We need to take out the leadership of countries that harbor him and not their population. The population may hate us but if the leadership fears us and what we will do to them individually then they will give in to our wishes regardless of popular support.
