Imagine the welcome party bin Laden will get when he arrives in the States. Abbe Lowell, Alan Dershowitz, Johnny Cochran, the whole lot of them. Hope nobody gets trampled in the rush.

Al, let's say the nerds over there, actually hand Bin Laden over to us. Then what? Does he go on trial, and get a life term in a country club American prison? This is not satisfactory.

I am certain that some US Marine/Navy SEAL will have the luxury of killing him on the spot. This will end any possibility of a costly trial, or terrorism from his group to urge us to release him. Also, I want to keep the involvement of the UN at its lowest.

I'll be disappointed if we take him out of the country alive, unless we do it to coax his follwers out of hiding.

No mention of; or comment by the UN - strange. Actually, it's kinda nice. Maybe they got an invitation to a fire drill.

IT MIGHT BE GOOD TO GIVE THEM 3 DAYS BUT truncate THE COUNT BY A DAY OR TWO.

You are right. That is exactly what I am talking about. All these vermin would fall over over each other, to defend this piece of hog excrement. What a country, huh?

So does this mean we are prepared to strike Tuesday or Wednesday?

If the Afghans handed over bin Laden gift-wrapped tomorrow, it wouldn't change a thing. We are going after ALL supporters and collaborators. Libya, Iran, Iraq, and a whole lot of other countries that have been looking the other way at terrorism have good reason to be scared. That goes for Arafart, too. That cracked old man has been riding high for too long.

The world is on notice: The Party Is Over!

We agree, the UN would be facing a series of vetoes which would draw the proverbial lines in the sand. However, if they can't get involved in this one, they have no more remaining utility; get rid of them.

Don't know why, but it appeared to be a tiff with someone and I just couldn't figure out the "to damned bad". Thanks. I even looked for a deleted comment, but of course there wasn't one.

Military guys on thread,,if we get him can we summarily execute him? Is that legal under military rules?

It is if you don't tell anybody.

Seriously, I don't think there would be any interest by our government in a live Bin Laden. This would create serious problems as you have suggested.

I don't think there is any chance he will be turned over to Westerners. As the Muslims see it, we Infidels have no legitimate right to judge one of theirs.

On the other hand, what if the Taliban does offer or even decree that Bin Laden will be put on public trial in some Arab venue before a panel of religious clerics? Assuming we reject such a measure out of hand, there would be more galvanizing of public opinion among Muslims against us. It could also cost us some support with the more squisy Western nations.

It looks to me like a smart move by their side, but I don't imagine it will happen. For one thing, I doubt any Arab country would want to be the host.

Perhaps I should have been more succinct. Dubya isn't spending two-thirds of his time looking over his shoulder. His eye is squarely on the ball and he's surrounded by a very strong team that shares his focus. I think we can have a lot of confidence that this exercise will be much, much more than a token gesture.

It probably would be the first nationally broadcast execution though...

I say put in the front seat of a plane under radio control... Fly him around awhile with a few near misses of large mountains... Then run out of gas...
