The charges were subsequently dropped just days after the men appeared at Horseferry Road magistrates' court, London. The Crown Prosecution Service said that the decision was made for security reasons. What kind of SECURITY REASONS could possibly justify this? Absolutely MIND-BOGGLING.

"Security officials believe that as many as 5,000 young Muslims in Britain may support bin Laden." Would someone please explain why the West is letting into their countries all of these Muslims? Which nation of Muslims has successfully embraced democracy and adapted western civilization?

It is not the first time that British fundamentalists have extended their operations to America. Last year The Telegraph revealed that a company called Sakina Security was training volunteers to handle explosives and guns at a base in the United States. Where do you think AKAL fits in?

So are we going to bomb Great Britain too?

Well, after WW2, the nations of the world decided to mindlessly do the exact opposite of whatever Hitler would have done. So, they started on the course of multiculturism. They are now starting to pay the price.
Their intentions were good, but their historical research was poor.

Funny, we must have been reading this "yank the chain" at about the same time.
"Security Reasons" ... my guess is that, even in a nation where crossdressing is acceptable behavior among males, no one really feels safe when they find out their leadership has Condit-style proclivities or some other truly unsettling personal habit or compromising association.
I think "security reasons" another sort of euphemism along the lines of "resigned/quit/retired in order to spend more time with his family".
Crystal clear, both of them, when you think about it.

f*c* this makes me sick. Did you know that four imigrants recentley won a court action, claiming that because when they came into the UK as ILLEGAL imigrants there're human rights were abused because they were held in a detention centre. The spinless, arab cock sucking EU actually agreed with them and said that they should be awarded damages! David Blunkett has lodged a complaint against this ruling, but it just goes to show you what f*c*ing ungrateful camel f*c*kers imigrants are. 'oh, your detention centre with pool tables and three square meals a day are so supresive, it's not like back home in the desert!' EU laws must be changed before the f*c*ing bastards get one over on us all!

I'm not sure I'm reading you correctly, Askel5. Either this story is true, in which case, not only the U.S. but Britain have had a monumental intelligence failures, or it's false. If it's false, then our own governments are lying to us and it is truly over.
To: Bogie
Is it possible all of our current immigration policies will be changed? Both of these terrorists have family here in the US (also citizens), so they probably arrived under the family reunification section of the law. What aspect of this trajedy does not have a link to something of our own making? We provided the citizenship, pilot training, housing, they could have been on the dole for all I know, and now I find we might finance it through Bin Laden's short selling of stocks. These guys are a tough opponent, but it appears they have made a mistake. Had they just waited long enough, we might have imploded on our own. Now, we just might fix things a bit.
To: Pokey78
For those who blame US foreign policy for terrorism, exactly what did the EU do? The EU has been the biggest Arab muslim rear-kissers for decades. Bin Laden had no better friends in the West than the EU. So what does he do? He attempts to gas the EU parliment to death. People really have to know what we're dealing with here.

Oh, most likely the same reasons our FBI had.
Smell a Plan yet?

Well, given the penetration of our intelligence agencies since the early 60's, I guess I'm hardpressed to characterize these as "failures" on their part.

No bimbo, we will not bomb Britain. They do not shelter, finance and encourage fanatics. so they let them go, dumb but understandable. If you cannot comprehend the difference between a terrorist nation and a nation where terrorists infiltrate and set up housekeeping you are pretty dense.
To: Pokey78
A six-strong terror cell funded by the Saudi fugitive planned to kill all 625 Euro-MPs, and scores of officials, by releasing sarin gas into the parliament building. Hey, France! Germany! Read this, and then read it again. Imagine Strasbourg as the scene of a major loss of life, the greatest non-wartime "weapon of mass destruction" disaster of all time. Would you still be whining about a "careful and measured response?"
The entire civilized world is in this with us, whether they recognize it or not. And France, Germany, and any other country that's waffling on us either needs to get on the bus or get the hell out of the way.

As so aptly a part of her handle,
Independentmind is not quite so dense as you and the rest whose reactions are inimitably predictable and therefore Bankable.
It's quite possible, with the clarification, she knows precisely what I mean.
As related in Putin's autobiography and (strangely enough, as if it happened yesterday) in recent news articles, Kissinger has a certain common ground with the former Soviet agent and told him once that "All the best people got their start in Intelligence."
Such a statement leaves only two options:
- Both the West's and the Soviet Union's intelligence operations were premised on incorrect ideals back when the likes of Kissinger and Putin were "getting their start" and each finally realized (the Soviets being slightly ahead of the game than we) that the "Third Way" of convergence was true ... more correct than either communism or Western notions of freedom and human rights which at one time were diametrically opposed.
Or
- Someone made a BIG mistake compromising the truth to come 'halfway' toward the other.
