"America, at its best, is also courageous.

Our national courage has been clear in times of depression and
war, when defending common dangers defined our common good. Now we
must choose if the example of our fathers and mothers will inspire us
or condemn us. We must show courage in a time of blessing by
confronting problems instead of passing them on to future
generations.

We will build our defenses beyond challenge, lest weakness invite
challenge.

We will confront weapons of mass destruction, so that a new
century is spared new horrors. The enemies of liberty and our country
should make no mistake: America remains engaged in the world by
history and by choice, shaping a balance of power that favors
freedom. We will defend our allies and our interests. We will show
purpose without arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with
resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak for the
values that gave our nation birth."

President George W. Bush--Inaugural Address--January 20, 2001

America Stands United. Lady Liberty's Bright Beacon of FReedom Blazes. And with your Help, the FReeRepublic will continue to defend and protect America's great Constitution. Please Donate and Bump for Liberty! Thank you.

$6,000 in 36 hours is nice, but much more is needed, and more urgently than ever given current events. Free Republic needs to replace the CPU which fried on Tuesday night, and then increase its capacity to more than it was before. Many new Freepers are signing up, and there's an awful lot of important posting to be done in the coming months.

I put in $100 during the Freepathon Blackout, because it made me very, very angry that Osama and his deputy monsters had managed to halt the Freepathon, while funds continued to flow to their evil organization by the millions. How much do you suppose THEY'VE taken in over the past 36 hours?

Long before 9/11, I had planned to hand over my whole tax refund to Free Republic. So I've got $200 left to contribute, and have determined that a challenge is in order. So here it is:

I'll put in $10 for every contribution of $10 or more by a first-time contributor, up to $200. So now's the time for guilt-ridden Freeploaders to reform, and for brand new Freepers to avoid ever becoming guilt-ridden Freeploaders. (I expect it would help the folks who keep track of these things if you'd note on your contribution that you are a first-timer.)

And one more thing. I'm not going to put a time limit on this, but could we please do this in a hurry? There's no telling when the next attack will come, bringing the next horde of new Freepers and Lurkers hopping on board, and the next overload of FR's equipment. Please help make sure we're ready.

BADJOE & Co., please keep me posted on the progress -- I wouldn't want to get behind on my matching contributions.
