An excellent post as usual. I have to agree with agrandis in post 55. The theological discussion aside I agree with the premise of the initial post.

It is vital for all of us to understand that in a declared war there will be non-combatants killed. I want a declaration of war. Why? Because our military needs to conduct this action with specific and declared goals and objectives and not be hamstrung by hand-wringing and tentativeness because of a photo, or press-conference or bad temporary outcome.

During Russia's invasion of Afghanistan a Soviet regiment was taken out by two suicide bombers who drove a truck-bomb into a fuel convoy inside a tunnel that was located in a mountain. Over 800 Soviet soldiers were immolated or sufficated by the act. This will not be a war to occupy or casually pacify a people. It will be total war.

It is vital that we get Russian cooperation and speak directly to our enemies and allies about consequences in the coming combat. It is likely that at some point the forces of evil will acquire a nuclear weapon. Tuesday, sadly, was not the worst case scenario. We must make them cringe in pants-wetting fear at the thought of ever hurting Americans again. We must make the average Ahmed in the Middle East beat the s*** out of the neighbor kid who tries to corrupt Ahmed's 9 year old son with visions of military glory. We must make the love of life transcendent over a true culture of death.

It is true the terrorists have "awakened a sleeping giant". It is also true that the namby-pamby moderates here in this country and abroad will do all in their power to make the giant shrink from his "terrible resolve". It is vital that as citizens we punish, persecute and remove from office those that whimper and sigh about the actions that will take place and must take place to protect this country and its citizens. Our resolve must be the conscience of that giant. We must ensure his actions are directed outward and not at home. We must ensure that the corruption that has eaten at the marrow of this government is purged before our efforts are begun.

I am 110% behind the President and our military in the prosecution of the coming war. But I insist that the war be conducted by the elected government of this nation and not by the corrupt clinton hold-overs of the last 8 years. Where did the code words come from? I will bet sabot to heat rounds that the transmitter of that information has a (d) behind his/her name. I want it found out and I want them prosecuted for treason, convicted and hung - publicly.

I want the micro-management of the govt. appointments to stop. After Tuesday there can be no more desire for degrees of idealogical purity within the (r) party. It is no longer acceptable for dems appointed by x42 to remain in critical positions where they can continue to do things that embarass the administration (best case) or endanger our military personnnel - or President - as what happened on Tuesday (worst case). Tuesday must be used as a subtle political club to get the democrat senators in line and get the appointments done.

If FreeRepublic.com is looking for an action-item this is it!

Thanks for the post and the Flag. Sorry for the length of my response.

Semper Fi,

TS

Just because it needs saying again.

Amen, Shrew! We have put up with so much from these "people" over the decades, turning the other cheek each time. Well, all four cheeks are faily glowing from the slaps, and it's time to take 'em to task!

Great post, as usual, ROL!
