From personal experience, I can say that this is a waste of the training and capabilities of DELTA operators. While these very highly trained folks are riding around in airplanes (and, given their number, very unlikely to be present during a hijacking) they are NOT available for the rapid-response missions they were trained for.

I know that the politicians have to do SOMETHING, but this is not a good use of these troops.

However, simply allowing sworn law enforcement officers, certain former military Special Ops people, and a few other categories of people with the necessary traing and initiative to be armed on commercial aircraft could almost immediately put enough "acting Sky Marshals" on planes to cover every flight in the U.S., at least.

This post is crap. Delta is a national asset which is too busy right now to ride around on plane guard duty.
