All well-and-good ... I've always been a great fan of James Madison.

Madison, you say? Hmmmmm.

Madison's observations are no less relevant just because he happened to be President when the British attacked America (for the second time). In fact, being President when an enemy attacked America, made him a very good observer of the consequences of war (especially its impact on the Executive Branch).
