"I hope this is just an emotional response on your part. If you do believe this is correct, then you have no grasp of any of the issues we face."

I have advocated for some time now, long before Tuesday's attacks, that the U.S. is fueling the Chinese military buildup by extending MFN status to China and allowing, via NAFTA, the relocation of American businesses to China.

I work with Taiwanese and Chinese people who are bewildered as to why America is kissing up to China. They have told me that it is the oriental mindset to stab in the back those who help them.

If they can see what the ultimate outcome will be and you can't or refuse to see it, then, sir(?), it is you who have no grasp of reality.

Easy to fix. Get rid of Afghanistan. Then they can have a treaty with a big pool of glass.

I know the Chinese well, having spent significant time there

and having traded with them in the late 80s up till the Tinnamin (sp?) Square Massacre.

Their old, power-hungry Commie "leaders" do not deserve to lead them,

much less do they even deserve to LIVE at this point.

The Chinese people, particularly the young people,

just want to be free and "rich" like Americans.

MFN with China and the Olympic Games in Beijing should NOW be both officially DEAD!

I don't necessarily wish to fight them either. But from a statistical point, right now would be the best time to take care of their Sabre rattling and high n' mighty attitude. You are correct that China is an enemy that we will eventually have to fight, whether it's over Taiwan, another downed plane or just the 2 biggest kids on the block. Eventually we're going to go at it.

It's time for the U.S. to pull out of China now or we will die by our own creation.

I say we stop buying ties and underwear from them. That's the ticket, no more ties and underwear.

China is already suffering an economic slowdown with high unemployment. In some isolated areas the Communists Party members were attacked and troops had to be sent in. China is still a Communist expansionist state but its window of opportunity may have already passed it by. It all depends of how strongly we exert ourselves on the international scene in the aftermath of these terrorists attacks. This moment has many far reaching implications for our future position in the world.

"I have some direct interactions with Taiwanese business people and I don't hear such in the least. Many I have talked with do business on the mainland and see China as a great market and see the future as one of interchange, not the opposite."

And how much do you think your "interactionaires" would lose if China is abandoned by America businesses? Do you really believe that they are objective in assessing the reality that exists? Money blinds one to the truth.

"I have doubts about the veracity of your statements."

I couldn't care less about your doubts, seeing how I closely work with Chineses everyday. I am constantly asking them how they view the situation with China and I have expressed them thusly. Whether you believe me or not will not cost me one minute of sleep tonight, although your ignorance may.

Did they announce it on Tuesday in China or on Tuesday in the U.S? Your "Ineteresting Timing" ignores something called the international date line. Tuesday morning in China is Monday night in the U.S. In other words, the announcement was before the tragic events of Tuesday (EST) occured.

Where is the article? I would like to read it in context.

You are correct that money often blinds one to the truth and, because of that, many U.S. companies have invested so heavily in China, looking for a piece of that illusive fabulous market, that China has become their Tar Baby. It is difficult to turn lose.

I never trusted the Chinese and I think these companies are fools. Slick Willie bamboozled them with his contacts over there, which he gained by giving them everything they wanted. Once these companies establish the infrastructure and develop the markets, the Chinese will say, just as the Mafia does, "Thank you very much, now goodbye. We can handle it from here."

Thanks for your prayers for her and all the others. I know Mike and their kids will second that.

Of the 1000 or so people who worked at WTC in her company about 100 are accounted for at present. The remaining 900 are still unaccounted for. She is still unaccounted for. Needless to say we are still praying as is her husband and her kids. Obviously everyone knows the outlook is not good but there are many unknown victims alive in hospitals. Until someone recognizes them or they regain enough conciousness to repond to questions they remian unidentified..

Stay well - Yorktown
