Thank you for your courage in the face of the catty, effeminate responses you will inevitably get for posting this disturbing article. The rampant, ongoing feminization of our society is never more apparent than when we need cool, hard-eyed, rational--dare I say it: "manly" thinking.

If you are a man, I salute you for your manliness. I hope our leaders will show as much in the war to come. If you are a woman I'm proud to see a few of our sex are still as strong and smart as our anscetors were.

If you ever get raped, I hope someone tells you that you were asking for it. Then you'dll understand why this is garbage.

A recent editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by Tornadoes. Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, war- mongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at The lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America!"

Yeah...a manly man in the style of Chamberlain.

A real man stands firm and defends his land, family and country. He does not make excuses for those who would destroy what he is, by virtue of his manhood, called to defend. What you call a man I see as someone who is defeated and controlled by, and co-dependent with our enemies. I am sorry to see so many warped minds excusing terrorism.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful responses in the face of all that jingoism and kneejerk chauvinism. Nevertheless, I think the article is pure nonsense - the author never does explain convincingly why Americans "are hated", as he puts it. I don't know either, but I think it would be useful to know the minds of these terrorists. We know for certain that we are hated for our support of Israel, but what else? I suspect, and again I don't know, that the reasons are cultural and not economic or political as the author wishes - we are hated by these religious fundamentalists for being a culture of death, for abortion killing fields, for Hollywood violence, for Hollywood foul language, drugs and so on. Perhaps I am projecting my own feelings about our cultural decline, perhaps not. (Let's emphasize: this is not to explain, excuse or sympathize!!!)

Still, as we have seen from the exchanges on this forum for the past two days, this is not a good time for reflection, and that may be how it should be, the nation is at war.

I have been struggling for the right adjective for these people whose response to all this is "kill, kill, kill" and "bomb-them-back-to-the-stone-age" and "kill them all, women and children first" and "we must inflict pain" and "send them to hell," etc.

You have hit the nail on the head: These "patriotic" and "macho" hysterics are actually a sign of feminization.

These people consistently speak in terms of push-button war from the air. They care nothing about what happens in the world, or to America, in the coming decades, whereas real masculinity is concerned about the long-term. It is typical of the homosexual, state-worshipping, fascist mentality not to care about the long run. Remember the fascistic, homosexual Keynes's dictum, when asked about the long-run implications of his money-printing nostrums: "In the long run, we are all dead."

They don't want to hear anything about American behavior that might actually have aroused hatred for America. Our killing of millions of people through bombs and starvation during the past fifteen years has nothing to do with it!

These "patriotic," "macho" people who are screaming for blood and bombs and destruction are having a screaming, epicene hissy fit. They are a symptom of the feminization of our society--only this feminization in their case is disguised by the fact that they are calling for blood.
