Harassment of Islamic Americans escalated amid reports that federal authorities were investigating whether associates of Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden played a role in Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
Islamic groups in Los Angeles and Washington received threatening phone calls and, in Irving, Texas, outside Dallas, bullets shattered the windows of the Islamic Center of Irving, although no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, in Alexandria, Va., employees at the Old Town Islamic Bookstore came to work Wednesday morning and found threatening notes attached to bricks that had been thrown through the shop's windows. "They said 'Death to the Arabs,'" store manager Hazim Barakat said.

This did not stop them from being threatened. There have been arrests made. If we all sink in barbaric behavior then we will be no different than the germans that looted shops and destroyed Jewish businesses on the Night of Broken Glass and we will become that which we despise.

http://www.americanfriends.org/nuclear/peaceIslam_N313.html Islam says the world is divided into two parts. Is peace possible between Israel and the Arab world? ISLAM AND JIHAD 1.The first is Dar el-Islam or the World of Islam The concept of JIHAD or Holy War has been understood by most of us but there is another concept in the Koran with which few of us are familiar. But it is essential to understand this concept when relating to Moslems. That is the law of HUDAIBIYA which dates back to Muhammad and states clearly that "Muslims are permitted to lie and break agreements with non- Muslims." This applies to business, personal life and politics. Would a peace treaty be worth much if the other party is Moslem?

I hope you don't wish to imply that it is "OK" to fly a Palestinian flag or any kind of an Arab flag. I am not in a mood for any sort of "oh, well everyone is entitled to express their beliefs" attitude. Personally, if I see such a flag, I am going have a conversation with its owner, and at the end of the conversation, the flag will no longer exist.
I don't know about you, but where I live, the hardest thing would be getting to such a flag before about a hundred people beat me to it.
during WWII there were many japanese-americans that fought on our side and served as translators and such.
I would like to see those arab-americans be the first in line to declare their allegiance to their country.
BUMP
I just think that many of the Americans of mid-eastern descent probably are patriotic. The more they show it, hopefully, the better. But, hey, it's just my opinion. I don't "give" permission. It's not mine to give.
My grandfather's father came to the U.S. in 1896 through Eliis Island. He was a shoemaker in Sacramento, California who brought eight brothers and sisters to this country at great personal sacrifice. He was a Lebanese Christian who came to America to escape the same sort of Muslim persecution now being leveled against America.
His son, my grandfather, became a dentist who spent 20 years in the US Navy, two of them aboard a hospital ship in the Pacific. His grandson, my father, was too young to enlist during WWII so he lied about his age and served in the Navy as an enlisted man beginning at age 16. Thankfully, both of them survived the war and went on to support subsequent generations.
Today his great grandson, that's me, is a business college professor. Among my cousins and uncles and nephews are medical doctors, psychologists, restaurant owners, truck drivers and waitresses. All of us are proud Americans who are appalled at what are seeing, maybe even more than you because the perpetrators are likely Semitic like us.
And now we will be looked at with suspicion and hate because we have our great grandfather's last name. We will, as we have in the past, be called "sand niggers" by people who are ignorant and too quick to draw conclusions. We will be lumped together in the same way you might destroy a mushroom because it is made of the same substance as a yeast infection.
We are not a "protected" minority group. we don't even desire to be. All we have ever desired from this country is a level playing field. We have never relied upon welfare or affirmative action or any government handout of any kind. As a family, we are very proud that we have given to this country far more than we have ever asked from it, and we have no regret about that whatsoever.
So please come and get me. I am waiting. And by the way, as a citizen of this country and card-carrying member of the NRA, I wholeheartedly embrace the second amendment; a fact you will learn soon enough the moment you open my door.
