FOR ISRAEL, THIS IS ARAFAT'S LAST CHANCE
JERUSALEM [MENL] -- Israel has sent a message to Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat that officials said mark his last chance to end the war against the Jewish state.
Officials said the message was relayed on late Tuesday from Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to Arafat, who was in his Gaza headquarters. They said the message urged Arafat to join the Western effort against international terrorism and demonstrate his commitment to peace.
The message did not contain any threat, the officials said. But they said the underlying tone was that Israel would not longer tolerate Arafat-sponsored attacks against Israel.
"There was no ultimatum," an official said. "But from Arafat's point of view, this is his last chance to end the war and return to peace talks. If he doesn't do it this time, then there's nothing left to say."
The officials said Sharon was not threatening to launch a massive attack against the PA. But the Israeli attacks would turn increasingly lethal and target leaders of the Palestinian insurgency.
On Wednesday, Palestinian sources said 10 Palestinians were killed in fighting around the West Bank city of Jenin. The sources said six of the 10 were local insurgency commanders from the Fatah movement headed by Arafat as well as from the Islamic Jihad.
On late Wednesday, an Israeli motorist was killed in a Palestinian ambush near the West Bank city of Tulkarm.

To say that the United States has mistreated Arabs is just preposterous. The Gulf war involved a specific breach of international law by Saddam Hussein, i.e., the military takeover of another country, viz. Kuweit. As for the Palestinian issue, the United States supported in good faith the peace process begun at Oslo. If that process had worked out, there would have been many in the US that would have supported and helped a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza. The Clinton Plan offered the Arabs the Old City of Jerusalem for gosh sakes! If they were serious about peace, they should have grabbed the Clinton plan, plus a large reparations payment in return for waiving the right of return for 1948-49 refugees and sought a peaceful accommodation. The Arabs are not serious about seeking a peaceful way out. They are not willing to make one compromise. They just want to destroy Israel and all Israeli Jews. They dance in the street at the death of 10,000 innocent civilians. Therefore, they have no right to criticize American actions in the region.

We must take Iraq while the world is sympathetic to our plight. Pump enough oil to significantly reduce oil prices, stimulating the world economy. The lower oil prices will cause the mideast regimes to collapse so we must set up democracies there. Buy western Jordan for a new Palestinian state with infrastructure paid for by the Iraqi oil fields. Create US bases in Iraq from which to enforce regional stability. Afghanistan/Syria/Iran/Sudan are much easier to deal with once the US bases are in place with a million troops to back up our policies. And it gets rid of the requirement for US carriers over there.
DO IT NOW. WE MUST USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO STABILIZE THE MIDEAST AND NEUTRALIZE TERRORISM.

The Arabs have long accused us of having a one sided approach to the Arab-Israeli crisis. They should no longer have any doubt that this is true. After the images of cheering Palestinians on Tuesday, few Americans will shed a tear when Israelis gun down the rock throwers.

I suspect that even an outbreak of stone throwing will bring down the fury of the righteous on the heads of the PLO and their cohorts.

Mr Arafat's days of being toasted at cocktail receptions in Washington and New York ended this week. No wonder he looks so sick.

Why does it take the death of 20,000 Americans for this murderous little weasel to be seen for what he is.

Hell, I've got an officemate (liberal democrat of course)that doesn't believe that we should be threatening to do anything to anybody (except bin-a##hole, and then just arrest him) because "most of the muslim's in the world had nothing to do with this and have been brainwashed". All she can think about is the "innocent children" who might be hurt in a war.
Disgusting.

Not one more cent of my tax money should go to the PA. Any American corporation or organization that sends them money should be brought to task. Any and all aid for the US or their allies should stop.
Furthermore; I am no longer impressed by the staggering (500) death toll of Palestinians and the children they set up as targets for martyrdom. The deaths of our innocent people kind of changes things. They want us to feel sorry for them and then they celebrate this act of WAR.
FORBIT IT!
We do not need to be concerned with the plight of the Palestinians. We will take care of those who have declared war on us. Give Israel a free hand to take care of their problems. When it is over, there will be freedom and peace in the Middle East like there has not been for thousands of years.

Arafat is probably a victim of his own making. After years of riling up the natives there is no way he can control them now without them turning on him.
He is toast either way

The Muslim religion should be asked by the world community to eliminate its religious concept of achieving martyrdom by the suicidal killing of innocent "enemy" civilians as an act of terrorism.
While it sounds outrageous to to talk of this "religious" problem in our overly tolerant society, there is ample precedent. We don't tolerate religions that practice human sacrifice anywhere on this earth. We shouldn't tolerate the deliberate targeting and murder of innocent civilians as a political tool in the disguise of religion, either.
The U.S. asked the Mormons to give up polygamy if they wished to be accepted into the U.S. as a state. The World community can ask the Muslim religion to foreswear terrorism before acceptance into the world community politically or economically.
Until the rest of the world has the guts to broach this subject, Muslim terrorism will never be controled.

All Israel has to do is call up all reserves and get on a war footing ASAP. I'm sure they are almost there already because of the raghead "uprising". Then wait until America starts smashing the vermin terrorists and their enablers. At that moment attack the West Bank, Gaza, etc with everything they have. Oh yes, the number one piece of real estate to be taken first, the Temple Mount.

A pagan Islamic religion that revels in human sacrifice. At least way too many it's followers do!

Arafag has been murdering people for the last 30+ years....
He has deliberately killed Israeli children. He has shoved Palestinian children into positions that killed them.
He deserves to die by the sword he has been all to happy to wield against both Israeli and Plaestinian children.
