9/12/01 10:40 PM BEIJING (AP) -- China's president, in a phone call with U.S. President George W. Bush, offered his nation's help for rescue efforts and stronger cooperation against terrorism following the attacks in Washington and New York, state media said Thursday.

President Jiang Zemin told Bush on Wednesday night that China strongly condemns the attacks. They "not only brought about a disaster to the U.S. people but also a challenge to the world," Jiang said, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.

"China is deeply concerned about the progress of the rescue work and is ready to offer all necessary assistance," Jiang said.

Jiang also said China "is ready to strengthen dialogue and cooperation" with the United States and the international community against "all manner of terrorist violence," Xinhua said.

Xinhua said Bush thanked Jiang for his messages of sympathy and condolences. Bush also said he looked forward to working with Jiang and other world leaders to strengthen cooperation against terrorism, Xinhua said.

What a wonderful way to slip in a few more spies. We don't need any help from Red China.

Four shirts, light starch. Three trousers, dry cleaned. Thank you very much for your help.

For now, a good case can be made that Russia, China, NATO will all see this as exactly the Islamic Jihad that the terrorists have been trying to start.

China has Islamic factions in some provinces, just like Russia. Hopefully we can leverage this, for now. Worry long term about China, after this is dealt with.

Suppose China will assist with refueling sites, for our long range bombers?

My point in posting this article is that China has officially stated that this is a challenge to the world.

Maybe we won't have to listen Chinese whinning when we fix these murderers and their supporters.

What we need to hear is not just sypathy and condolences, but outrage and condemnation. Anything less is inadequate, and pretty well identifies just who our enemies are. It's easy for the likes of Red China and Yassir Arafat to express sympathy, but without condemnation and a willingness to act on it, that sympathy is as empty and meaningless as "photo-op" blood donation.

Watch how the U.S. government cracks down on the freedom of Americans while letting China, and others, continue their criminal ways.
