Fellow FReepers: Today I heard Hildebeast on TV 'feeling' her "fellow" New Yorkers' pain. After I hurled a couple of times I began to think about some excellent articles I have read today about SCUMBAG's responsibility for dumbing down our intelligence community during his time in office.

So here's a collection of info... Let's start with the statement from Hildebeast's web page. If you don't have a strong stomach you may want to skip this.

Dear Friends:

At this moment of tragedy in New York and America, we are joined in prayer for the many thousands of victims and their families. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the courageous men and women who are risking their lives and devoting their talents to the rescue and treatment of the survivors.

Not since Pearl Harbor has our nation come under such a direct and horrific attack. I am sure America will respond to this crime against humanity in a way that has always characterized our country: with unity and strength. As a nation, we are united behind our President, and together we will seek out those responsible and ensure that they will be made to pay for their cowardly and evil acts.

All branches of government are acting in unison to cope with this incalculable loss and I am confident that all federal resources needed to deal with this tragedy will be made available. Whether through the donation of blood or funds, caring for the injured or offering prayers and comfort to the families of the victims and to each other, New Yorkers and Americans are responding with speed and compassion. I firmly believe that our uniquely American values will see us through this dark time. Yesterday, New Yorkers went from standing in line to vote to standing in line to donate blood. That speaks volumes about who we are and what we stand for.

Now let's look at SCUMBAG's responsibility for this. Two articles. The first is an excerpt of this article on NewsMax.com by Chris Rudy:

Smart to Examine Who Failed Us

We are Americans, so let's get our feet back on the ground and use common sense.

The media say we shouldn't point fingers. (Funny, isn't it, how the media have spent 30 years pointing fingers at Richard Nixon for his alleged crimes, but when one of their liberal favorites is due for some blame, they feed us the mantras like "Let's move on!" and "No time to point fingers!")

Common sense, in fact, dictates that we need to critically examine the people who are to blame for this incident, both the perpetrators (and if you believe Osama bin Laden was the major mastermind behind this, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you) and the people we pay to protect us – that is, our national security agencies.

Without question, these agencies failed miserably in preventing this sophisticated, wide-scale and coordinated attack against America.

Intelligence Agencies Failed Miserably

Tuesday I received an e-mail from a recently retired high-ranking CIA official. I will identify him as "Harry":

Here's what Harry said:

"... Reacting effectively and justly to this [attack] makes us hugely dependent on intell [intelligence] capabilities that failed us miserably. This is an enormous liability, which we shall not be able to fix before we have to react. Payback time for the last eight years!"

He continued: "There were clearly enormous failures here. This operation was ingenious in its simplicity, which would have limited the size (number of people, actions) of the operation and hence detectability. But it could not have been that small for at least a dozen men to hijack four carefully chosen aircraft (routes, fuel load) with carefully coordinated timing. And to get through security with knives big enough to subdue four relatively large crews. If the intell and security systems claim that this challenge is simply too hard for them, they have to be replaced, root and branch. Because this challenge is the challenge. It is now pretty self-evident that claims of reform and adjustment [at the intelligence agencies] to new realities that we've heard over the past eight years or so are hollow."

Of course, it's obvious why the media doesn't want any finger pointing.

Guess who ran the U.S. government and was responsible for our national security for the past eight years?

Yes, you got it, Bill Clinton, Hillary's husband.

Clinton Responsible for Unpreparedness

The Clintons were supported vociferously by the media through the worst imaginable scandals.

During that time I was one of the lead reporters opposing the Clintons. I was mocked and vilified by my colleagues for doing so.

I said throughout that period that Bill Clinton's personal corruption was wholesale and mirrored how he was corrupting America's national security.

I wrote articles and said repeatedly that America, sadly, may end up paying a heavy price for Bill Clinton and the major media's complicity.

I don't believe the worst has passed with the incidents of today.

We remain vulnerable and weak.

Brutally, we witnessed our weakness today.

During eight years, Clinton decimated America's military. Our forces were cut almost in half under his stewardship.

Research and development on all new weapons systems were brought almost to a halt as other nations continued to build. Clinton destroyed nearly our entire arsenal of tactical nuclear weapons. Monsters like Saddam flourished as Clinton bombed aspirin factories, tent cities in Afghanistan and worthless radar stations in the Iraqi desert.

These are open facts, easily verifiable.

Clinton, the Ever-Clever Bastard

But Clinton, the ever-clever bastard, was more insidious. Little, systematic changes were undertaken to destroy America's intelligence agencies.

Let me explain. A regular NewsMax reader, "Roger," was a CIA spy in the Mideast.

I met him almost two years ago. Roger wanted to tell me why a gung-ho American quit the CIA in disgust.

Roger said the CIA was not interested in recruiting spies.

Clinton and company knew they could not just tell the CIA to stop recruiting spies. That would look stupid and embarrassing.

So they just changed the rules of how spies are recruited, raising the bar on requirements to such a high degree that the most valuable spies could never meet CIA standards and couldn't work for us.

Previously, I wrote how Clinton effectively stopped the recruitment of Chinese nationals by demanding that only high-ranking embassy officials could be recruited – knowing this is almost impossible. Roger told me that. Roger reminded me again of this today.

He noted that Clinton policies reached their zenith under CIA Director John Deutch and his top assistant, Nora Slatkin. The pair ran Clinton's CIA in the mid-1990s and implemented a "human rights scrub" policy.

Here's how Roger described it in an e-mail Tuesday evening: "Deutch and Nora, Clinton's anti-intelligence plants, implemented a universal 'human rights scrub' of all assets, virtually shutting down operations for 6 months to a year. This was after something happened in Central America (there was an American woman involved who was the common law wife of a commie who went missing there) that got a lot of bad press for the agency.

"After that, each asset had to be certified as being 'clean for human rights violations.'

"What this did was to put off limits, in effect, terrorists, criminals, and anyone else who would have info on these kinds of people."

Roger says the CIA, even under new leadership, has never recovered from the "Human Rights Scrub" policy.

Perhaps that was the intention.

But we, the American people, Congress, and honest media need to examine all of these issues, now and quickly. If we don't, we risk even more grave dangers than those that we just lived through.

Finally, here's a brief excerpt of an article by Seth Gitell published by National Review Online:

While nobody knows who committed these crimes against the American people, we know they are enemies of America, and terrorists — people against whom our country has been allegedly waging war since the last World Trade Center bombing, in 1993. Out of that tragedy — and the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing — sprang the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 (a weighty, 89-page document that can be downloaded off the Internet). The efficacy of that voluminous law can be judged by its result today.

Clinton promised a war on terror, but produced nothing of the sort. His administration never honored its commitment under the Act, which provided that families of victims could sue, in civil court, the state sponsors of terror. In 1998, two years after the law was passed, the Justice Department rebuffed Stephen Flatow's attempt to sue after his 20-year-old daughter, Alisa, died in an Islamic Jihad bomb attack. When he sought to collect on $247.5 million in damages against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Flatow found himself up against Justice Department lawyers in a federal court.

Nor did Clinton ever deliver on his commitments to the families of the Pan Am 103 disaster, the international airliner blown up over Scotland in 1988. Speaking at the 1998 anniversary of the disaster, Clinton bit his lip and promised to bring those responsible to justice. After the event Susan Cohen, the mother of 20-year-old Theodora Cohen, told me: "All he has is crocodile tears to share about this. What do I care about his emotions?" Ultimately, a compromise was forged that sent two individuals to the Hague for trial and let Libya — and any other nation that may have assisted in the crime — off the hook.

Just knowing that she and chuck got to fly into New York on the only plane into New York and then rushed to Rudy's side for a press conference turned my stomach. Bad enough to read what she has to say........but to have to see her ugly face on every NY station was too too much.

Some one needs to follow her around with a blown up picture of her kissing Mrs. Arafat. That may be just enough to remind people of where her loyalties lie.

Once again dear old Chris Rudy writing for Nutsmax magazine gets it wrong. Like too many he knows so little and writes so much. I guess it was only a matter of time before he would figure out a to blame Clinton. At least he can take pleasure in knowing that those who perpetuated this attack hate the Clintons every bit as much as he does.

Now it is time to rip his article for the shear fallacy that it is. First, intelligence agencies even very good ones can not prevent every attack. Israel gets continually attacked by terrorists and they have one of the finest intelligence agencies in the world. During the 80's our embassies were attacked by terrorists yet few blamed Reagan. Secondly, this attack was essentially domestic. The attacker lived in the United States and nearly all the actions took place within the United States this places the matter under the perview of the FBI more than the CIA. In fact the CIA is prohibited from many domesitc intelligence gathering activity. Had Crazy Chris taken five minutes to research his article he would have discovered this most elementary fact. Finally, it is hard to penetrate organizations like the ones that are responsible for these types of activities. These organizations are small, tightly controlled, compartmentalized cells, where the activities of one group are not known to the rest of the organization. Even if you can penetrate a third or two thirds of the various cells it only takes one to reign havoc. This is not the time for him to engage in the national self-indulgence of Clinton-hating it is the time to unite not divide.

Bill O'Reilly interviewed former CIA Iraqi bureau station chief Whitney Bruner on tonights show. During the interview, some of the assertations made in Ruddy's article, most notably the "human rights scrubbing" were repeated by Bruner almost exactly as written in the article - It's safe to say Bruner was not promoting Ruddy's article.

Looks to me like Ruddy was pretty accurate with his information.

First, it is an now almost universal consensus that airport security flaws were at fault. This is not an area of CIA responsibility. Secondly, in the 1980's the vaunted CIA missed the fact that the Soviet Union was nearing collapse. That cost us billions on weapons developement to defend against an enemy that would be bankrupt years before the weapons were online. In 1990, three years pre-Clinton, the CIA missed the amassing of troops on the Kuwait border and failed miserably to predict the invasion of Kuwait. Now when they miss something that by and large fell outside their area of responsibility it is suddenly Clinton's fault.

I'm getting tired of the finger-pointing and the blame America crowd spewing their nonsense. The Arabs and the Israelis were at each others throat for decades prior to Clinton or Bush coming to office, the CIA had serious problems prior to Clinton or Bush. The FBI, who is supposed to be in charge of domestic activity, had problems prior to Clinton or Bush coming to office. As for Chris Ruddy perhaps he should continue his search for Vince Foster's killer. Hint: he should join O.J. since the same person is probably Nichol's "real killer".

However, the right-wing or the left-wing exploitation of the tragedy is counter-productive. I'm sure the Clinton-haters would love to feed their sick psychosis by blaming this on him. Just as the Reagan-haters like to feed their equally sick psychosis by blaming it on his support of Iraq and Afghanistan in the 1980's. They are both wrong, stupidly wrong.

The Terrorists are responsible for what happened and it is the terrorists and their allies and supporters that should be held accountable. Arguing that Clinton, Reagan, Eisenhower, or Truman (he was the first President to recognize Israel) are at fault detracts from the real culprits.
