I think it was clear it was a suicide mission, as they weren't armed with guns.So a standoff on the ground was impossible, and just how could they maintain control with only knives, for an extended period of time? That would have told me that no matter what, you're dead.So you have nothing, at all, to lose in trying to take control of the flight. As a passenger, that would have the rung the bells immediately for me.Die fighting, or die in a crash, but by fighting, maybe have a chance to land the plane with a wonded pilot or help from air traffic controllers.A chance, but better than nothing.

I would have grabbed a PC, briefcase and jacket and stormed them.It may sound 20/20, but no guns present, no chance to make it all.

Well you think clearer and faster than most of us. In part that is human nature. We don't want to confront the worst case scenario that with cold logic and inferential reasoning is staring us in the face, until hard facts force us to. If the passengers knew about the WTC, or had been told by the hijackers what the plan was, as an earlier report, perhaps erroneous, suggests, then it becomes undeniable.

Think about the other flights. These guys basically hijacked these planes with little more than threats. Everyone is asking, "If they only had knives, why didn't someone fight back?". But if you look at this amazing story, the people on board probablly thought that the plane had a bomb. In other words, the first 3 flights had no idea what the real intent was, otherwise they may have done the same thing.

It is definitely 20/20 as the other 3 flight outcomes indicate. No one figured the hijackers were going to do what they did. I imagine one of the reasons the hijackers took 4 planes was they knew this was a one time event. No passengers in the future will sit passively while hijackers hold them off with knives and threats of a bomb. The outcome of flight #4 shows this.

As soon as I heard about flight #4 doing a nosedive into a field, I figured the flight crew had tried to fight off the hijackers. They did the only logical thing in the circumstance, perhaps a rather stoic point of view, but that does not mean it didn't take a great deal of courage to do it! They are true heros! Who is alive today, who would not have been, save for these brave men!
