NEW YORK (CNN) -- Passengers on board the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed in rural Pennsylvania Tuesday apparently decided to attack the terrorists who had commandeered the plane, according to family members of one passenger.
Passenger Jeremy Glick, flying with his 2-month-old child Emerson, called his wife Liz and in-laws in New York on a cell phone to say the plane had been hijacked.

I see, even in your objection, you understood my point quite well. Therefore, I will consider that my statement had the desired effect. When I read nonsense, I will point it out. Sorry, if that offends you.
There is some question in my mind that the pentagon attack was a fall back, and that the passengers may have overcome the cabin terrorists and were heading for the cockpit.
The pentagon is so easily seen, it's a good "fall back target" if they felt they would not have time to swing around to the White House, with a team of plane passengers screaming up the aisle.
Federal investigators said on Thursday they could not rule out the possibility that a United Airlines jetliner that crashed in rural western Pennsylvania during this week's attacks on New York and Washington was shot down.I'm sure you want to restore order to a chaotic and terrible situation. Your approach needs work."We have not ruled out that," FBI agent Bill Crowley told a news conference when asked about reports that a U.S. fighter jet may have fired on the hijacked Boeing 757. "We haven't ruled out anything yet."
The Defense Department on Tuesday vigorously denied reports suggesting the U.S. military could have downed the hijacked flight in an effort to prevent it from reaching a target, perhaps in Washington.
Pennsylvania state police officials said on Thursday debris from the plane had been found up to 8 miles away in a residential community where local media have quoted residents as speaking of a second plane in the area and burning debris falling from the sky.
We should all follow their example should this ever happen again. The passengers clearly out numbered the terrorists. The only way the terrorists could get to their targets is through the passengers cooperation with THEM..... If this is Jihad, then we all just became part of a volunteer military.
There was a secondary "explosion" that I felt (and was reported on television at the time) about 20 minutes after the Pentagon crash -- but this could have been the Pentagon collapsing, whihc I think is what th elatest news reports claim. It could have also been the fuselage belatedly exploding . . .
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one."
It is the same reasoning I would use if carjacked.Never let the bastards into the car and fight all the way, because the odds are against you.The pilots know even less than the passengers what's going on in the back of the plane, so what they say in this case is irrelevant, unfortunately. If the terrorists say they have bombs, but no guns to defend them, then what good is the deterrent value of such bombs? Its a stall, until the inevitable.
Please try and understand that I'm not saying this lightly or flippantly, and I hope in a crisis I would have the presence of mind to think this clearly. But, I'm also a nasty bastard that does think about this stuff from time to time and so unless my logic falls apart, I will stick with what I said. And leave it at that.
Take Care
