Rather has actually been pretty good in reporting this. I've been channel flippin since 0600 PST yesterday and Rather has been one of the best.
That freeking Jennings is a freekin disaster and even questioned the Secret Service saying Bush was hiding. He said the plane that hit in DC came from the south so the WH is covering for Bush. Just now on NBC they showed the plane that hit the pentagon and the flight path went first over the pentagon then over the capital just east of the White House and then south in to the pentagon. They said there are hand held stinger missles on top of the WH so if the plane turned around back towords the WH it would of been shot with a missle. They also said if the pentagon was the first target why did the plan fly over it first before turning around?

70 Senators were penned at a nearby police station. Around 5:00 pm, a shouting/shoving ensued and they started calling Administration officials demanding that Bush get back to Washington.Ohhh brave Senators, none of whom were targeted. I imagine the insult was so great - they demanded that he who was definitively targeted return and be like "hey, man...one of us..".
Arcadia...you really are a dull one, aren't ya?

Also, the next day, we find that the hijackers had specifically targeted Air Force One. That's why he had to move around! No! That's spin to respond to criticism of his movements the previous day.Hey, dipsh!t, you might want to talk to some people who were actually in Washington Tuesday. I was in a Senate office building when they started evacuating right after the Pentagon was hit. There was a serious and rapid effort to get people the hell away from the Capitol. (BTW, Laura Bush was there for a hearing as well.) I heard three different Capitol Police officers tell people that they had been told both the White House and the Capitol were targets. This was at 10:30 a.m. when the President was still in the air from Florida.
Take a look at the flight path of the plane that hit the Pentagon. It was heading straight for the White House but went in too low and hit the Pentagon. I drive by this side of the Pentagon to work every day and if you look straight across the river you see the Washington Monument, and right up from that is the White House. As my husband reminded me, the White House is a rather small target from the air and the Pentagon is reeeeeally big. I suspect these guys either just came in too low to make it to the White House or got nervous that they couldn't fly the plane precisely enough to hit the White House and so they hit the Pentagon.
Did it ever occur to you that on Tuesday the President's advisors were focused on keeping him alive and not on what idiots like you and your friends would think if he didn't come straight home??? You are clearly suffering from Clinton fatigue. Of course Clinton would have come home first to do the boo-hoo on TV and feel everyone's pain. We have a REAL president now who is actually concerned about being able to run the country.
Sheesh.

So unload on ARCADIA, everyone.

Peter Jennings and Dan Rather were polled enough times to make up 8% just by themselves?? I am sure that Geraldo and others helped.

I never thought about that!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This has got to be driving him insane that he isn't in control. Probably had to shoot some heroin just to mellow out.

What's really great is that Clinton is stuck in Australia and can't get home to get his ugly mug in front of the TV. Gore stuck in Austria.

The "PROVERBIAL" 10 percent that don't even know their names or what country they live in has been increased to 12%.....that is the only explanation.

All these opprotunities to shed crocodile tears and bite his lip for us wasted! Thanks for giving me a smile. They've been hard to come by the last couple of days.

I know the Secret Service was moving him around according to pre-established procedures, but a real man would stopped them and returned to Washington immediately. Actually moron, he did. The Secret Service wanted to take him to Norad - and he told them he was going back to DC. Maybe he lost your number and didn't realize how fast he had to do it to make you happy.

Jennings is irresponsible. He has abused the privilege of being on the air to an international audience. He should be fired. It isn't just that he is a Bush-hater, he has no ability to filter his hatred and hostility towards an honest man who is appreciated, respected and liked by a clear majority of the country. He does himself, his network and his profession a disservice.

I recall 'act of war' used the first day by Bush. And Air Force 1 was considered a target. Do you understand what that means? You ain't going to take out AF1 with a commerical airliner, the escort would shoot you out of the sky. Think Stinger SAM's. No way they were going to Washington straight out of the chute.
To: cinFLA, ARCADIA
Clinton and Gore both stuck overseas...Hmmmm you don't think this could have been a coincidence do you? Like Osama telling his goons to wait until Slick and Hitlary would definitely NOT be in New York and possibly accidentally hit? And what are the odds of Klinton and Gore being abroad on the same day????
Hmmmm....Hey Arcadia, any ideas????
To: Howlin
"MSNBC is reporting that the Boston Herald will report tomorrow that they found a ramp pass in the rental car in the airport parking lot." What, exactly, does that mean. Does it mean that they could get up to the plane from outside?

People in this country are going to have to get used to the idea that President Bush is a man of few words. He doesn't like to talk. He holds his cards close to the vest. He focuses and he delegates to the persons best qualified to carry out the task. In other words, he is a leader.

At a time of national crisis, he gave the appearance of hiding. First in Louisiana and then in Nebraska. I know the Secret Service was moving him around according to pre-established procedures, but a real man would stopped them and returned to Washington immediately. VP Cheney never left the White House and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld stayed at the Pentagon, even though it was on fire. Mayor Rudi Guiliani never left New York City. Guiliani actually had to walk from City Hall (near WTC) to Midtown in the chaos of the streets of New York I'm not going to get mad because it's hard to get mad at ignorant people.
Do you understand that Washington was under ATTACK?? Nobody knew if this was a first wave, a prelude to another attack, a distraction from another attack or what. Nobody knew what the hell was going on. And you would have President Bush flying back in Air Force One, into potentially hostile air space, to sit in a building that we now see was most likely a target of the attack? Are you freaking insane or just so biased that you act insane?
