He says he wasn't involved, but he's pleased with the outcome anyways. Depending on what the meaning of "involved" is, he might even be telling the truth. He knows his communications are being monitorered and the Taliban claim that he's not being allowed to operate freely. Operating in loose cells with minimal exchange of information between them is their best bet. It makes it harder to compromise the organization. Maybe Omar provides money and loose direction and cells freelance. Before someone goes balistic, I'm not arguing for diminished responsibility. Just pointing out that, if it's a question about command and control, it would be niave to think it's all originating from a single source.
