Afghanistan Prepared To Discuss Osama bin Laden's Extradition - Report

There are reports Afghanistan is prepared to discuss the extradition of Osama bin Laden.

According to the AFP newswire, the Taliban authorities have said they'll consider requests for the extradition based on any evidence supplied.

Bin Laden has reportedly denied any involvement in the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

The Taliban authorities in Afghanistan are reported to have said: "It is premature to talk about extraditing Osama bin Laden but we would consider it. If any evidence is presented to us we will study it."

But the Saudi dissident is said to have congratulated the people who carried out the attacks, a Palestinian journalist says. "Osama bin Laden thanked Almighty Allah and bowed before him when he heard this news," Jamal Ismail, Abu Dhabi Television's bureau chief in Islamabad, said, quoting a close aide of bin Laden's.

Ismail said the aide called him from a secret hideout in Afghanistan.

Ismail reported the aide said bin Laden has described the devastation in the US as "a punishment from Allah". The US had invited Allah's wrath because it is trying to control the entire world by force.

"There are thousands of Muslims who have vowed for jehad (or a holy war) and martyrdom," according to bin Laden's aide. "They have experience to fight with all sorts of weapons."

The aide also denied reports of bin Laden's deteriorating health, according to Ismail, saying: "These are all false reports. He is well and strong."

MOSCOW, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Russia's Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned the appointment of Saudi terrorism suspect Osama bin Laden as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban regime, the official RIA Novosti news agency reported. Bin Laden's appointment confirmed that a center of international terrorism is being set up in Taliban-controlled territory, the ministry said in a statement. "Pseudo-religious values are being used as a cover to prepare a bridgehead for expansion of militant extremism and separatism far beyond the region's borders," added the statement. This month, Russian media quoted Pakistan's Nation daily as saying that the Taliban had named bin Laden commander of their troops. Afghanistan's civil war concerns the Kremlin as hundreds of Russian border guards monitor the Afghan-Tajik border and a potential spill of violence could plunge the whole region into chaos. "Incorporation of the international terrorists' leaders into the ruling structures of the Taliban shows the need to take decisive measures to collectively counter global challenges that are put forward from the Taliban-controlled territory," said the statement.

Even if they give us bin Laden's head on a platter, we should nuke them anyway. Had they extradited him when we first asked them to, thousands of Americans would still be alive today. The Taliban deserve our wrath as much as bin Laden does.
