We should make perpetrators pay with their blood

Mhammad Khatami. Saddam Hussein. Moammar Gadhafi. Kim Jong Il. Omar Hassan Ahmad el-Bashir. Bashar Assad. Mullah Muhammad Omar.

For if U.S. intelligence discovers that any one of their rogue nations had anything whatsoever to do with yesterday's terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, they should prepare themselves to meet Allah, Beelzebub or whatever deity they worship.

And the U.S. should not restrain itself simply to taking out the foreign head of state who aided and abetted the terrorist organization responsible for killing what may turn out to be thousands of innocent Americans. Their country should pay for the horrific crimes of its leader.

If it's Khatami, U.S. military forces should reduce Tehran to rubble. If it's Omar, Kabul should be bombed back to the Stone Age. If its Hussein, Baghdad should take its place beside Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

And it matters not how little one of those rogue nations might actually have had to do with destroying the World Trade Center, with damaging the Pentagon. It matters not whether the leader of one of these rogue nation's actually bestowed his blessing on the attack.

If Kim Jong Il even allowed the terrorists to convert their currency to dollars (with which the terrorists financed their attack), cruise missiles should rain down upon Pyongyang.

If Gadhafi permitted the terrorists to open up e-mail accounts (by which they plotted their attack over the Internet), U.S. destroyers should annihilate Tripoli.

If Assad allowed the terrorists to obtain passage to the United States, President Bush should send the B-2s to level Damascus.

This may sound extreme, but no more so than hijacking four commer cial jets and using them as weapons to target the World Trade Center, the Pentagon (and possibly the White House and the Capitol).

This attack was not merely a symbolic strike against the Great Satan, the Yankee Imperialists. It was nothing short of an act of war.

Yes, there are questions as to whether the United States can actually identify the culprits responsible for yesterday's terrorist attack. And, yes, there are questions as to whether any sort of retaliatory strike will serve as a deterrent to future attacks.

Former Secretary of State George Schultz answered the first question. He noted that there are very few terrorist organizations in the entire world that are "big enough to do something this complex."

It's almost certain that U.S. intelligence officials have a short list of the likeliest suspects. And they probably have a pretty good idea where those terrorists are hiding.

As to the second question, it is abundantly obvious that the terrorists responsible for yesterday's attacks are like the Japanese kamikazes during World War II. They are willing to die for their delusions. So they certainly have no fear of being hunted down and exterminated by the United States.

The United States should not hesitate to exact vengeance on the government that either directly or indirectly assisted the terrorists in perpetrating this despicable attack against the American people.

If Osama bin Laden or Sabri al-Banna or some other terrorist leader wants to wage unholy war against the United States, then U.S. intelligence agencies, along with the U.S. military, must be willing -- must be allowed -- to do whatever is necessary to vanquish this nation's sworn enemies.

After his country's sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, which claimed the lives of some 2,200 American servicemen and civilians, Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto presciently remarked: "We may have awakened a sleeping tiger."

Yesterday's terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, which may have claimed many more lives than the Pearl Harbor attack, should reawaken the sleeping tiger.

And our intelligence agencies, our military forces, should not rest until the blood of our innocents is avenged a hundred times over.

Afganistan should be obliterated permanently and immediately along with any other country that aided or harbored the terrorists.

And what if it was AOL that allowed them to open an email account or Walmart that sold them the cardboard cutter knives? Should we retaliate there too? If they place their monies in First Union, should its offices be demolished? This is a bit rediculous...you hit the countries who directly financed and or trained...what if their money went through Swiss bank accounts or they used a German calling card? Should we nuke the world in retaliation?
