GWB needs to call a joint session of Congress and say in blunt terms, without notes, exactly what the threats were to him yesterday and why he didn't come back to DC. He needs to specifically address his complaints that the media was improperly speculating that he was either too stupid, too cowardly or too weak to return to the White House. If WE could figure out his life was in danger and they were trying to insure his safety, the PRESS should have figured it out, too. So, we can correctly assume they were trying to make a political point. How despicable!
And at the press briefing today, the reporters were particularly condescending. Campbell Brown wanted to know why AF1 flew around the US all day when the order went out at 9:45 am to ground all flights. There weren't any planes in the sky when AF1 was flying to Lousiana, she said. The eagerness to pin a label of cowardice or being out of touch is getting really tiresome (I wanted a stronger word, but I can't think of one right now.) It makes me want to yank those reporters neck first through my TV screen.
