The events of the last 24 hours or so have most assuredly swept other stories in our nation completely off the radar screen. They will probably be off for weeks if not months.
One can only speculate on the larger implications vis-a-vis issues we were all following recently.
For example, Gary Condit must be breathing one large sigh of relief; he will probably escape scrutiny for a long time, if not indefinitely.
Vincente Fox's arrogant plan of opening our borders completely. have probably been dashed. For one cannot believe there would still be believers in the theory and praxis of open, porous national American borders for our nation when many of us here were saying for years that the borders needed to be closed, policed, and orderly immigration scrutinizing each entering person should be in effect.
Now, more than ever, Condit needs to be removed from the House Select Intelligence Committee. Given the events of yesterday, the HSIC needs people of integrity, honesty, and outstanding character. Gary Condit has proven beyond a shadow of doubt that he fails to make the grade in all three categories.
Additionally, he needs to be removed all together from the House of Representatives. Either by his own resignation, or by expulsion by the 2/3 majority of the House.
If any of you have not done so as yet, please write your congressman/woman to demand removing him from office. Thank you one and all.
Yeah -- that moronic Newsweek story about how David Souter almost swung the election to AlGore by almost convincing Justice Kennedy to switch his vote in the case Bush v. Gore. This was set-up to be THE news story of the week. Kaplan's stupid story and his nitwit book "The Accidental President" (in which Newsweek no doubt invested mucho kilobucks) is headed directly for the remaindered bins.
You mean House Intelligence Committee. And even if Condit does lose his seat, the attention pulled from the case makes it much more likely he'll get away with a murder or three. Of course he's happy.
Thank you, THANK YOU!

I wish you were right. However, I think the PTB are so committed to erasing the border with Mexico and establishing the "North American entity" that they will continue to sell this concept and pledge to move toward more police state-style surveillance in all three "former" countries, Canada, U.S. and Mexico, and promise that no one will get across the "new" border of the NA entity between Mexico and Guatemala.
I just think that planning for transforming NAFTA into something greater has gone too far for the PTB to turn back now.
