They ran for their lives, bloodied and burned, hysterical and confused.
Thousands of survivors yesterday told of miraculous escapes, courage and determination as they fled burning buildings only to be engulfed in a tidal wave of toxic smoke and ash as the World Trade Center's Twin Towers collapsed.
