Bush Advised by Some Aides to Go to NORAD

Last night Fox News' Bill O'Reilly reported that several Bush national security advisers advised him not to return to Washington, D.C., yesterday, but to order Air Force One to the NORAD Command Center.

NORAD is buried deep under Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado. It is one of the main command posts to be used during a nuclear war - and can sustain a direct hit by an atomic weapon.

Obviously, Bush didn't take the advice.

But the report, if true, suggests that some top military and national security advisers believe that terrorists and their sponsors may use a weapon of mass destruction - including nuclear ones.

Those fears by some of Bush's advisers are eerily similar to concerns offered by NewsMax's national security expert, Col. Stanislav Lunev, who says that there remains the possibility of additional attacks in the near future.

Another Washington source tells NewsMax that after the Pentagon was hit by a jumbo jet and word was received of the attack on the World Trade Center, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld told aides he believed there would be additional attacks.

Cynthia Crowley on ABC who was one of the few reporters on Air Force One all day and she said over and over this morning that Bush exercised his authority as commander in chief to return to Washington. She made it sound like he gave a direct order to overrule his advisors. It looks like he was the only one who wanted to return. Undoubtedly, everyone else, SS and military, were telling him that anything he could in Washington, he could do from a safer place. And they were right. But Bush knew he needed to return for the sake of our morale and confidence.

The president knows he's never really safe. He's even less safe now than he ever was before and that will be the case from now on. He knew it was important for the president to return to normal and not hide out.

They didn't give Ms. Crowley much air time because she kept smiling proudly and saying that it was Bush's sole decision to return to Washington. Obviously, she very much approved of her president's actions and decisions yesterday. So they cut her off before she could say anything else nice about our president. She'll probably be fired for reporting the truth.

I just hope all the post-before-they-think crowd at FR who were sniping at Bush yesterday for not immediately returning to Washington (to face God only knew what) reads this.

His speech last night wouldn't have had the same weight if it were from NORAD. It was very symbolic for him to return to a suspected target.
