PENDLETON Police were investigating a possible bomb at Eastern Oregon Regional Airport this morning in the wake of terrorist attacks on the East Coast. The very suspicious items are two unclaimed suitcases, which have wiring, two opaque cylinders inside and Arabic writing on them, said Pendleton City Manager Larry Lehman. At press time, the suitcases lay on the tarmac near the terminal. A police robot will be used to investigate them more thoroughly, and possibly disarm or destroy them. We dont know what it is, Lehman said. It could be biological. The suspected bomb was discovered at the Pendleton Airport after it had been shut down this morning and flights already were grounded due to the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. Police, including the Oregon State Polices Arson and Explosives Unit, have been on scene since before 10:30 a.m. today. The suitcases apparently came through Heathrow airport in London, and then from Pasco to Pendleton on Horizon Airlines, arriving at 11:20 p.m. Monday, Lehman said. The passenger with the suitcases got off at Pasco, but the suitcases came to Pendleton, Lehman said. Local Horizon Airlines officials refused comment and a corporate official didnt know anything about the situation. The FBI and FFA have been notified of the situation. This may turn out to be nothing, Lehman said.
Dump it in the nearest volcano.
