America's youth tries to make sense of attacks, national security threat

They've had to come to terms with many things in their young lives, from the Oklahoma City bombing to the massacre at Columbine High School.

But this is a national security threat so serious that it's being compared to the attack on Pearl Harbor, an event they know from textbooks or this summer's blockbuster movie.

"Why is the U.S. getting bombed? What did we do to them? We don't deserve this," said 12-year-old Robert Zalan, a student at Doerfler Elementary School in Milwaukee, where U.S. Attorney John Ashcroft had been scheduled to speak Tuesday.

I was around when the first attack on the WTC took place. I can remember thinking to myself "Why is this happening?"

Today, in my school, there was much shock that boiled into some getting angry over the situation. It is not in our culture to think of these United States being attacked by radicles (not from other countries anyways).

This whole situation has thrown many people into a state of confusion, not just the youth.

My wife is a 6th grade teacher. She told me that they didn't get it. Since it didn't happen to them they could joke about it. According to them they thought this was a good thing because they got a day off from real school work.

Obviously I find this reaction disgusting. When I saw what happened this morning I wept. Then I called my boss at a US research laboratory and told him I would not be comming in for obvious reasons. Then I went to my church and family and prayed.

We have a nation of idiots teaching the kids to be idiots.

I don't mean your wife. I mean the leftist democrats aka:Hollywood & Music Companies: that are teaching the kids.
