2nd Plane at Pentagon??

I just watched DC local news on channel 5 in DC. An interview with a witness from the plane crash at the Pentagon said that after the initial collision by the American Airlines plane, he saw a second plane, which he described as a four prop gray plane. This second plane, according to the witness, was not following one of the familiar approach paths to National, but rather headed straight toward the Pentagon, as if it intended to collide with it. At the last minute, the prop plane reportedly pulled up and flew away.

I'll try to find corroborating reports.

Most likely it was a rubber necking pilot who wanted an up close look at the first crash.

I'm a commercial pilot & instructor. 3500 hrs over 25 years.

It's common that when an airplane goes down, that the tower will ask another plane he is in control of to "take a look", so as to confirm to ground response people what's going on. Sounds like this was a P-3 orion, or something similar. Military anyway.

In this case, it was hardly necessary, but it doesn't surprise me in the least if it happened.

Earlier in the day it appeared that there were no flames visible at the Pentagon......then tonite after dark there were films of the place engulfed in huge flames......anyone have an explanation?

Re: Pentagon Fire; It was explained on Fox News that there is a wooden roof deck covered in metal at the Pentagon. The wood smolders until the fire fighters pull back the metal, then bursts into flames when exposed to oxygen.

Good question. We have been asking ourselves the same thing all night.

By the way, the news on that 4th plane seems real scarce, probably because it never made it to its target, but I would like to know if it was headed for the White House and if so, did our military catch wind of this and blow it out of the sky.

Heard this tonite......the plane turned away from it's course to California, over Cleveland, called in and said it wanted permission to change the destination to Washington, D.C. There was a passenger who called in on his cell phone to say they were being skyjacked.........
