How does one contrast Taliban saying that Bin Laden didn't have the capability to do this with Olsen saying that they used only knives!!

Here's a pic of Barbara Olson:

Boxcutters and knives against 50+ people? Those are good odds in my book. I believe I would have commenced some serious butt-kicking knowing it was the alternate to dying at the hand of a boxcutter or flaming explosion. What the hell is wrong with people that despite overwhelming odds in their favor, they won't fight to save themselves. What were all the other passengers doing on board the other flight while a few flight attendants tried to defend the plane?
To: TheLurkerX
They didn't know the destination.

Most people are sheep....and pretty docile at 7 am. Plus, how many hijackings end up like that?

And I understand today is Ted's birthday. An early report said that she was supposed to fly to LA yesterday but stayed home until today so that she could have a birthday breakfast with Ted.

She is a hero for getting that info to her husband. I don't know why the passengers couldn't defend against box cutters, but I'm sure that there are details we don't know yet.
To: TheLurkerX
The liberals and liberal media have conditioned Americans to find self-defense of any kind so repugnant, that obviously many would rather die than strike or kill another person, even a criminal.

Boxcutters and knives against 50+ people? Those are good odds in my book. Damn good odds in my book too. It would be .5 mm Pentel mechanical pencils and ball point pens and ALL the fury I could muster versus knives and boxcutters ...

Hopefully, she conveyed the nationalities of these heathens to her husband.

Cool it!
Take a good look around you, if you ever fly one of those flights (predominantly business folks, like a middle aged tv commentator).
Since most air rages end with the arseholes in jail, are you assuming the hijackers announced their intentions? We don't know that.
Since those hijackers were smart enough to plan all this, and smart enough to fly the damn thing, they were probably smart enough to con the pax and crew to go aft.
However, since you feel strong enough to overpower a crew of deathwish fanatics, I kinda' wish you had been there.

"Box Cutters" were probably x-acto knives - small & razor sharp.
To: _Jim
Don't be surprised if there weren't weapons planted on these planes by cleanup crews employed by the airlines so they wouldn't have to carry them through security. Semper Fi, Mike
To: Steven W.
Yes, there also refered to as carpet knives
