VILNIUS, Sept 11 (AFP) - The largest hotel in Lithaunia's capital Vilnius was evacuated Tuesday evening following a bomb threat, police said. They said security services discovered the threat to the Hotel Lietuva posted on Lithuanian web sites.

The 22-storey hotel is popular with foreign tourists and is the tallest building in the capital. Police were continuing to search the building as of 8:30 p.m.but had not found any explosives.

The threat follows Tuesday's terrorist strikes against the eastern United States. Earlier, a security officer at the US embassy said the complex was being evacuated and will be shut for business in the wake of the attacks in the United States.
