WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hours after terrorist attacks were carried out on New York City and the nation's capital on Tuesday, U.S. President George W. Bush landed at the home of the Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska shortly before 3 p.m. (1900 GMT), according to a pool report.
Bush left Louisiana after having told reporters that all appropriate steps to protect the American people had been taken and that the United States would hunt down and punish those responsible for the attacks.
White House spokesman Ari Fleisher earlier said that first lady Laura Bush and presidential daughters Barbara and Jenna Bush had been taken to secure locations.
That's funny, Strategic Air Command (SAC) had been "realigned" out of existence even before I left active duty in 1994.
SAC's old resources had largely been assigned to the new ACC, which had replaced the old TAC.
Has SAC now been resurrected in recent years -- or is it the more likely alternative that the military-ignorant media are strutting their "stuff?"
