...nor am I an ex-Republican or a Jew. Today, I am simply an American.

I am an American who mourns the loss of thousands of innocent non-military lives and the injury of thousands more. I am an American who mourns the abhorrent violence inflicted by people who are so adamantly against peace.

I am an American father and husband who cherishes his family and friends. I am an American who hopes someday his children and grandchildren will know true peace and will never witness actions like these that will be indelibly etched in our collective mind, soul, and spirit.

Like so many other incidents we have witnessed on our soil, whether by terrorist action or natural disaster, the common element is that somewhere deep in our collective soul, many people across our country become Americans again. We begin anew working hand in hand to help, to rescue, to save, and to heal those who we knew not even seconds before. We do this regardless of our race, our religion, our political point of view, our ancestry, or any other identifying feature big or small. We become an America renewed.

As I sit and witness one of the most devastating days in American history, I pray those lost will find peace in a far better place. I pray the survivors and families of the victims will find peace. I pray those involved in the protection, rescue and salvage will find peace. I pray our leadership, regardless of agendas that have been set or political affiliation will learn from this tragedy and pursue peace. JMFR

I thank God in Christ that hearts are still soft enough to turn to the Living God and Only Lord in times like this. The Bible has told us (those of us who have been reading it) that this sort of event will be happening in these days, and increasing in frequency and intensity. The Bible also says that a day will come (during the Tribulation) when the hearts of men will be so hardened that rather than turning to the Only Lord and God Who could deliver them from death, they will shake their fists in the air as a futile gesture of defiance and rage...all the while begging that the rocks would fall upon them. I also believe a "hands off" attitude to terrorism only when our ex-President was in political trouble (when did Clinton take forceful action against known terrorists? When his mistress was testifying and when the House was voting for impeachment. That's THE ONLY TIME HE DID ANYTHING.) did GREAT HARM to the lives of the American people.

While watching the coverage on Fox, I could sense the slightest of gibes tossed by Newt, i.e. intelligence budgets have been underfunded for years. Regrettably, it won't be long for the blame game to start.

What I'm hoping for from this tragedy is:

The guilty parties are hounded to the end of the earth, then eradicated in a fiery and excruciatingly painful death;

That our politicians truly get on with our nation's business, that is the protection of our freedoms, rights, and national defense, instead of haggling over a few bucks in a non-existent SS 'trust fund';

That our nation comes together to grieve for those who we have lost, and cherish each and every life whether its inside or outside the womb;

and last, but not least, to send a message to the entire world: DON'T PISS OFF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Just as Hillary had her conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt, Osama should have had a conversation with Yamamoto.

And keep posting that picture of Hillary smooching Suha Arafat (or whatever her name is - Arafat's wife).

Generally speaking, today they are posting non-partisan stuff, and the ones that aren't are getting slapped pretty hard. The site was up as of 1PM, but I suspect with the situation in DC (which is I believe where they are hosted) they are likely having severe difficulties. JMFR

Yes, it was a mistake. Of course I do not want to see anyone, American or otherwise, military or civilian, killed or injured. Unfortunately in the military, such events such as detah and injury are somewhat more expected due to the nature of the business, although that usually has more to do with exercises or war, not a sucker-punch from cowardly low-lives such as these terrorists. Well said, I am not conservative today, I am not a right-wing fanatic. I am an American. I mourn those who were killed, but I will follow on with this one and only caveat.

I disagree...Peace is not easy. It requires a delicate balance of negotiation where warranted, and military muscle when peace does not work.

In this case, I am more inclined to uncover the people responsible and bomb them back to the stone age. If it is Bin Laden as many suspect, I would also be inclined to tell the Taliban they have 48 hours to deliver him or we turn Afghanistan into a vast remote parking lot. I agree with people who believe those who support or host terrorists are as complicit as those who perform the act.

If we are, however, to do that, I would hope we would do due diligence for accuracy sake (rather than target the wrong people out of bloodlust) and then go after them with a vengeance.

I think many here misinterpreted the spirit in which the post was intended. I firmly believe that as an America united under these circumstances, our first priority is to pick up and tend to our wounded and lost. Our second priority is revenge, justice, peace-by-fire, or whatever else we all choose to refer to it by.

Last, not all Democrats are pacifists, draft-dodgers, or individuals who would otherwise fear a draft. Please don't assume that because we differ in some issues we differ in all issues.
